Tapentadol

On 8th August this year, 2023, I had open heart surgery for the third time to replace my mitral valve. It was a tricky operation because of all the old scarring and I was worried I wouldn't make it, but I did. It worked really well and for two days I was riding high! However, on the third morning I woke to find my legs bloated and solid with fluid and worse I couldn't feel or move them. I was taking Tramadol for the chest pain which was great untill I had was great until I had a reaction to it and they wouldn't prescribe it any more. That's when I was put on Tapentadol, 100mg four times daily. It's taken me, with extensive physiotherapy, until now to be able to mobilise independently. It's not what I call walking but I can get around with a Zimmer frame. I was discharged from hospital on the 27th October a total of 82 days or 2 months 21 days. My heart's working well but I walk funny and I'm addicted to Tapentadol. I don't want to grumble and whinge but I'm finding it extremely difficult to find even s small silver lining 😓

I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. That must have been scary.

The silver lining will come. Try to be patient with it. Sometimes the worst of times turn out to be a blessing.

Have you joined the 'drink free' community on here? That may help.

You've been so strong and resilient. Keep that up! Give yourself some credit.

Hugggggggg

Thank you so much for your very kind words. I'm usually the type of person who bounces back quite quickly, this time I'm struggling. I'll have a look at the group you suggest. Thank you c

Keep plodding on; it takes time to recover from Cardiac surgery, and I think you are doing well. My mother had both her mitral and Aortic valves replaced at the same time. It took her months to get back to where she was before.

Thank you. I suppose I was expecting to recover like I did when I was younger. This growing old lark takes some getting used to!!!

Tell me about it! I have two duff knees, which I doubt will get done before they have to dig me up to do the ops!

I'm 75, BTW!
