How do you deal with panic attacks?

Mine come at random times when I start thinking about the trouble in my life or how alone I am. I don't call anyone anymore because I do not want to be labeled as crazy or psychotic. Instead I deal with it on my own. I cry and have meltdowns. yes I am on medication. I really like my proponalol rather than my Ativan. But my life situation is very hard and I can't seem to get in a positive mindset.

I tried dealing with them but the more attention I gave it the stronger it became. Walking and cold showers were the best solutions. Medication helps as well. Being in this site has helped me alot since I can help others and express my feelings. Hope everything gets better.

Since you have already pursued professionals for medication, you may want to consider professional therapy and get a counselor. I have been helped with anxiety and depression by counselors and psychologists. Medication can help but getting tools and having a professional to talk with may be the step you are missing I wish you all the best in improving your mental health.

for me when I have panic attacked I first try breathing and then drinking some juice or water it helps to calm my mind and makes me focus on swallowing . I also like to watch comedy shows to help me .

I found panic attacks initially scary and thought I was having a heart attack. I then found out about how they are just a burst of adrenalin in our body and the solution was to surrender in the moment while they are happening and let it flow through you like a wave of water and realize it's only temporary and it can't hurt you. I found it relatively easy to get over the panic attacks, it was anxiety itself that took me longer to deal with. I recommend the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos for hoe constructively to deal with panic attacks and anxiety. Another very helpful thing to learn and practice is simple mindfulness meditation to realize that you are not your thoughts and to be able to detach from them and observe them flowing in and out of your mind. It's our fear of the anxious thoughts and feelings that feeds the anxiety and the solution is to learn that they are lies and to never believe them no matter how scary or weird they may be.

Great, I hope you find it helpful, feel free to let me know if you have any questions after going through it. They also have a good facebook group you might find helpful. I also found their phone app helpful and even did the premium version of it for a while, it was like having my own coach.
