I'm scared and need help

I'm in desperate need of help. Maybe this will be pointless. I'm just scared and reaching for anything. My psychiatrist just started tapering me off of Sertraline and added Remeron. It's been several days and I am struggling to keep myself together. My depression feels so so much worse. I don't know if it's a coincidence that I started feeling worse after starting the medication changes. I'm crawling out of my skin and have been inconsolable. My heart/chest hurts. Has anyone here had a hard time with Remeron? I've left a message for my psychiatrist. Still waiting for a call back.

You are not alone. I tried remeron twice (sometimes a different combo of drugs gets diff results). Are you on sertraline and remeron at the same time. That definitely could do it. What dosage are you on? It worked well for me for a week or two and then the bottom dropped out and I had a similar reaction like you do. It just didn't agree with me. Plus, when you reach a certain dose remeron seems to provide an opposite effect (such as drowsiness first and then agitation). I had violent fits. Sounds like it doesn't agree with you either (I do know people it worked for)

I'm on several meds. Trazodone, Amitriptyline, Sertraline (tapering off just started Friday night) and also started the Remeron on Friday night. Are you still taking remeron? I go through the county behavioral health department. I left a message for the nurse of the day but have no other way of communicating with the psychiatrist. I need them to tell me what to do. If it's not the medication I don't know what I'll do. I just feel so deeply miserable. I just don't understand enough about all the different medications. I can't keep feeling this way. Thank you for your reply.

changing meds can do this, it should be temporary but you did rt thing. The Dr should know when its that bad.Is there anything you can do that might help, listen to music or going for a walk? Call a crisis line to talk if you need too.

Make sure Dr or his nurse gets back to you.

Just keep doing what you're doing trying to reach your providers and try to hold on until then. Pamper yourself, let yourself rest, if possible, try some guided meditations on YouTube to give you some positive input to help you relax. I hope it passes soon. You are not alone here. Reach out as you feel the need for comfort.

No, no longer on remeron. It made me feel worse too (both times). Some drugs just don't agree with you. But you were right to let your Dr know. May I ask why you changed from sertraline to remeron? Was it just not working? Changing meds is always a challenge. Taking walks and Journaling works best for me. Of you can sleep and rest even better.

Hmm I'm on Sertraline now and have been for a little over a year, haven't heard of the other medication you are starting though. Why does your Dr want you to wean off Setraline? Was that not doing anything for you? I know my body is sensitive to changes on medications so that could be the same for you. I hate to hear you are dealing with this.. 😔

I am just the opposite of you. I can’t tolerate any antidepressants. But I don’t have depression I have anxiety. I have tried 5 different s s r I .. one at a time. I tried remron and did ok on it . I was taking 15 mg but then tapered off after 6 months. I take a beta blocker for my anxiety and low dose klonopin. Things that help me also are 5-8 hours of sleep. Wim Hof guided breathing exercises free on you tube. If you don’t like those they have many other ones. 30-40 minutes of daily cardio exercise to burn off steam and produce endorphins. And here is one please don’t laugh it’s helping millions. A 5 minute cool shower a couple times a day. With the goal of pure cold in a month.

Hi, I noticed you were on a beta blocker for anxiety. I am as well . It's not a common practice but helps for some . Which one are you taking , when and how much ? I take 75 mg of metapropal in the evening. I also take xanax 2 times a day. Thanks for any input.

For 30 years it was 50 mg of atenolol once a day. And a few klonopin a day. Now it’s 100 m g of atenolol after my surgery.

I remember you and your cold shower advice, lol. I can't even take ONE shower a day, let alone a cold one. I have the heater on just to go from naked to shower😄

I was that way too. You start at about 70 degrees for 5 minutes and work down. Cold water.. natures antidepressant and anxiety medicine. I just got out of my second cold dip of the day. Some people like a cold bath better once they are used to it . Half a dozen people from here got back to me and thanked me they tried it and do it daily. Twice daily if the water is not that cold.

It usually takes 2 - 4 weeks for a medication to start making a noticeable effect so try to give it time and be compassionate with yourself. It's also common with anxiety/depression disorder for it to increase when presented with any kind of change. One of the best things you can do is to try to relax, be kind and compassionate with yourself and know and trust that you will be fine and that this is only temporary and it's your anxiety that is blowing things out of proportion. Try not to feed your anxiety with anxious thinking, all it does is maintain and perpetuate it. Do things that soothe you and make you feel good.

Feel so much for you and totally understand you as I have tried several meds and have been on that roller coaster for the past 2 years. I am very tired, discouraged, don't know what to believe in anymore. I just want to wake up and feel happy to be alive and start my day with motivation free of the cloud of depression and anxiety. Sending you hugs, prayers that things will get better for you..

My heart goes out to you. It really is such a deep ache...longing so much to have some peace and joy. It takes so much from us. It is a thief that steals hope, optimism, determination...I understand you and I am so sorry that you are struggling. Thank you for taking the time to reply. It cannot be understated that it can mean so much to feel seen and acknowledged. I too wish you all the best. Always take good care of yourself and know that, if you ever need to talk, I will be here to listen.

Thank you so much. Your kindness and understanding very much appreciated. My psychiatrist is calling me tomorrow morning and we will of course be discussing medications....but I am in a dark place now...want to believe there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel...that there is an answer for me...but feel that what awaits me is more of the same...tweak this med...taper off this get on that and wait and see....the not knowing why I am like this tortures me. My partner wakes up every morning with a smile on his face...his mood always optimistic...I feel like such a lost cause right now. I will definitely put on my meditation with positive affirmations...If my conscious mind can't get into positive mode perhaps my subconscious can be influenced....I felt like I was going crazy today. Thank you for reading and taking the time to offer me some encouragement. Bless you🌈💫👏💫🌻🦋
