Soo I went to the doctors and told them how I've been sleeping very poorly recently and all my anxiety keeping me up and she prescribed me with πππ‘ππ©π€π£ππ£ and π―π€π‘π€ππ© . The melatonin supposed to help me relax and fall asleep but I'm scared to take it..I mentioned the part of me being scared of bejng uncontious but she just told me about the pills so yeah. I kinda didn't want it to come to taking pills because I'm scared something might happen..
I went to the doctors and the said I ... - Anxiety and Depre...
I went to the doctors and the said I needed to take medication..and I'm scared to..π
If I were you I wouldn't be to worried about taking those two pills. If it helps you relax and you finally get some rest and some sleep it is well worth it. You body cant heal without rest. I was the same way, I never wanted to take pills, but I am sure glad I did. I finally can get some sleep and I'm finally starting to be able to function a little during the day
Yeah I suppose so but I don't know if I'm just oevrthinking it but it kinda feels like Being forced to sleep y'know? I know it sounds weird cause I overthink alot...but yeah I'm thankful something will help me relax and sleep
I understand that. It is a normal reaction to be concerned about taking medications and how you will react to them. I have trust issues so it took me a long time for me to let my Dr prescribed me anything until I trusted him. Now I trust him with my life. Melatonin is a natural chemical our bodies create so I wouldn't worry about taking that. It never helped me. I have to take a muscle relaxer and a Amitriptyline to go to sleep with my anxiety medication Escitalopram
Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in your body that helps regulate sleep. Taking these pills will only help you have a more regular sleep schedule. They won't make you as tired as a prescribed sleeping pill or even cold medicine. It will just help you get a good night's rest. I would try them out for a few nights, and see how you feel. You shouldn't be worried about sleeping too heavily. Your doctor has prescribed this as a little boost to help you get a better sleep schedule. Everything will be okay. It can't hurt to try.
Melatonin is very safe, your body makes it anyway, you are just taking a little extra.
Of course if you can find a way to get to sleep without it, that's even better.
If you put " can't sleep" in the YouTube search box you will get a ton of good information to choose from.
You will probably fall asleep listening to it!
I have Ad Blocker installed on my computer, it's free, saves a bunch of time, blocks popups, but best of all it prevents being awakened by loud Ads, when you're falling asleep!
I hope this is helpful for you.
PS melatonin is very mild, it won't make it noticeably more difficult to wake up if the dose is within reason.
Thank you so much! So I'll be able to sleep even though I'm anxious?
That's really hard to say, but if you Believe in it, it will probably work for you! I know that if I get really worked up, nothing will work for me, but that's only when I get really extreme. It will definitely be helpful to do some beginning yoga, where you concentrate on your breathing. I like "pick up Limes" for that but there is plenty of good yoga teaching on... You guessed it... YouTube!
As itβs already been mentioned, melatonin is actually a hormone that the body produces naturally. Your doctor was right in telling you to take the supplement in order to boost what your body is supposed to have, itβs a natural way of helping you sleep. Donβt think of it as a pill as in medication - think of it as a vitamin. Itβs not at all like taking a sleeping pill.
As for the Zoloft, Iβm glad that the doctor prescribed it for you. Please donβt be afraid to take it. You should start to feel the benefits of the medication within 4-6 or so weeks. The Zoloft will lessen the anxiety and possible depression youβre experiencing.
You NEED sleep. You know that. Sleep deprivation can cause quite a bit of harm, your body and mind NEED rest.
Once you begin taking both the Zoloft and melatonin do not stop taking them once you start feeling better. Continue taking them as prescribed.
I know that not sleeping good is bad for me and it scares me and I want to sleep! It's just I'm to anxious thinking stuff.. like what if I die from lack of sleep because I'm not able to sleep..the doctor said I wouldn't but I still am pretty scared. Hopefully thisll help me. I know today ill have trouble sleeping cause I'm going back to school after a break. But hopefully I'll get more rest after that. I've been getting headaches and feeling tired but atleast I've slept right. . I'm just trying to stay positive.
Iβm glad you saw your doctor and have a plan to begin addressing your fears. Are you nearing bed time now? Did you take the melatonin and have you set a time to turn off electronics so you can rest? I know itβs tempting to stay on your phone but your eyes, your body and your brain need to rest. Sleep wellβ€οΈ
Melatonin is sold over the counter. It is safe. Some people give it to children. But no it is not going to put you to sleep like a strong sleeping pill such as Ambien. Melatonin gently helps relax is all. I used to take Ambien, I did not have any bad side effects it got too expensive. I now take trazadone for sleep and it does help boost serotonin as we need for A & D.
Zoloft should help these feelings of doom. Stick with it for six weeks. Keep writing so you can look back and see how you feel after this time. If no help then try another antidepressant. The past year you didnβt mention taking any prescriptions for depression and anxiety. I think if you havenβt taken any before you will find this Zoloft helps a lot. Best wishes.
Thank you so much !
Melatonin is a supplement used in the short term treatment of insomnia. This is one Wiki. The very next line says, "Evidence of benefit, however, is unclear." So your doc is giving you a drug - melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland. Based on anecdotal evidence your doc gave you a pill that they have no idea if it even works or how? Quackery. As for Zoloft that is a not-very-pleasant experience in my...experience. It's just another SSRI in the short list of meds the psych docs have to offer. The side effects far out-weighed the benefits. Plus the weight gain. Oh yeah, that'll be another battle to fight. Xanax is a short-time short-action benzo. For me it calms my mind at night so my thoughts are not racing keeping me awake. They gradually fade and next thing I know I'm asleep. Any doc can prescribe them, not a narcotic. If your doc won't ask why. Demand to know and say you're not taking those others. If they do not wish to cooperate with you then demand to see another doc, or simply leave and find another. Just my opinion, advice, experience. Use as you see fit or disregard it all. I hope for your sake that you do get better. That you return and tell us how you're doing, good or not. That's why the rest of us are here, to commiserate as a community. Being agoraphobic this is the best I can hope for. Take care, stay safe. Come back tomorrow, I'll be waiting.
I take melatonin almost every night!
