Last minute plans cause anxiety...

Hey there HU! It's been awhile since i've made a post but I noticed that my anxiety really flares up when last minute plans are made. Is this normal for others? For instance, my fiances family was supposed to drive into our town and spend Saturday night at a hotel and drive home sunday afternoon. Now, they are driving in late friday night and staying in our one bedroom apartment, then the hotel on Saturday night. They are really nice people and I know I should be fine with this but my anxiety always tends to flare up when plans are changed because it brings uncertainty. Any coping mechanisms to get through this?

Hi marie x Just remember that the anticipational anxiety is always worsethan the actual event. But know that I do understand. Anytime we have someone

staying in our home overnight can be stressful but it will work out fine.

Get through the weekend, one day at a time.

Don't overdo, give yourself some breathing time.

You don't have to be entertaining every minute.

We will be here on call if you need to chill for a few minutes.

You're not alone marie. You've got this :) xx

Let me know how it goes. Enjoy your guests. Do your breathing exercises from time to time.

And Smile :) xx

I get that feeling sometimes too especially if it involves my living space or something really like…private or personal I guess? Totally agree with Agora1 that the anticipation is way worse than the actual thing but it can feel awful leading into things. I get that. Take good care of yourself and be kind to yourself through it. It will all work out well. 🙂

Yes that is exactly it! It’s either hosting or staying overnight at someone’s place gives me anxiety and I don’t understand why I can’t be able to go with the flow! Thank you for your comment and reaching out :)

Hi! I feel pretty anxious every time someone is comes over or sleeping over at my place (especially my husband’s family) even if I know that they are amazing. I just feel it and I try to explain to myself that it is completely normal to spend some time alone if I need it even if they stay at our place. Take your time! If u need to talk I’m here 👋

Thank you for this comment! I feel like I’m not alone in this I guess! It’s either hosting or staying overnight at someone’s place gives me anxiety and I don’t understand why! Yes I love showers and baths so I can sneak away for that and plus it’s only one night so I’ll be fine. Thank you for that! I will be here too if you need it as well 🤗

I like the Wim Hof guided breathing exercises free on you tube. I like 30-40 minutes of cardio exercise daily to produce endorphins and burn off steam. Anxiety is an abnormal fight or flight response. This helps me . I also take cold showers. Between the 3 of these they help me out.

Yes showers calm my anxiety down a lot! I love breathing exercises and I know cardio helps produce endorphins but I get anxious even just thinking about working out ☹️ I wish that would change because I miss the feeling after a good workout.

Why are you anxious about working out? You can do it at home.

Hmm that's a good point. I think it's because I feel discouraged because I am the type of person if I don't do it right I won't want to do it. I should maybe try some simple workouts at home that anyone can do and that can boost my confidence in it I suppose. Thank you 😊

100%. I don’t like change of plans either.I know in my head it’s fine but yes my anxiety gets the best of me.

Yeah, they do. I have a presentation, an article and 2 volunteering educations and usual classesand mom desided to travel when this all is happening. But recently got in arguments with her so imma just agree. I'm scared of traveling and seeing family. Espessially anxiety makes it worse. It's normal. I'm scared too. But i'm more scared to cancel so i just let them step in me. Don't blame yourself. Think what can go wright, instead of what can go wrong. The opportunity to have fun or at least see something new. Music traveling, mint candy. I personally will take more meds before it. Good luck and you're not alone

Thank you for your reply on my post! I'm sorry you are having to travel while being so busy with other obligations. You have a great outlook on it though. Not to let it step on you as well as being more afraid to cancel so you push through it. I wish I had the fear of canceling. Whenever I get anxious that's all I want to do is cancel something and sometimes I wish if I had the fear of canceling I wouldn't want to do it so much. I appreciate your kind words. Hope all is well with you now! 🤗
