Sometimes depression and anxiety can be caused or made worse by vitamin/nutritional deficiencies. My user name is JEG 325. I was diagnosed with PTSD, Anxiety & Depression. I had a critical low in potassium and they later found a critical low in Vit D. Replenishing those two things, some sunshine + better nutrition, improved all of my symptoms. I'm new here but, I thought I'd let you know.

LITTLE KNOWN CAUSES OF ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
I'm glad you mentioned that JEG325. A Holistic doctor would get into that more whereas your GPs and Internists reach for the prescription pad too fast. Thanks for sharing. x
It was my internal med doc that wanted me tested. It's rare, but I found what a really good doctor was! After she left, it took me 3 years to find a new doctor that met my new high standards. Thankfully, I found one!
ALWAYS vet your doctor, and if they do things like suggest pills for everything, don't listen, jump to conclusions, ect. Find a new doctor!
That is good to know. I've heard (on here) that low Magnesium can also be a cause.
Magnesium is also great to help you sleep. I’m no longer on a sleeping pill...just magnesium.
I have "very low" cholesterol. If you search around its said to be linked to anxiety and depression. I also stay away from dairy so I'm probably low on vit D. I have attempted to balance these in the past but its very hard to really tell if its helping and/or the cause to begin with.
I am low on potassium and have also heard to take magnesium and vitamin B. Can I take supplements even though I am taking escitalopram 20 once a day and Buspar 5mg 3 times a day all for anxiety. I am totally just wanting to feel better soon have lots to take care of and can’t do much with this anxiety monster. Please advice
You can take vitamin/mineral supplements while on meds, yes.
Thanks I really need to take everything I can to feel better and get back to my daily routines. I have taken FMLA from work and not really like to just sit around my room all day. I am in Dallas so it’s Been raining and cold can’t do much outside and to top it off I suffer chronic allergies
Bless your heart, you real,y are having a hard time. I hope you find the right combination to help you. Did they check your vitamin d also? Vitamin d helps regulate moods too. Just a thought. Love and light to you. ❤🌹
Thanks no they only told me about potassium but once I get out to the store I will get magnesium vitamin b vitamin d. Yesterday I had a very bad attack just cried a lot and couldn’t breath I just sometimes feel so down it might be side effects of buspirone idk whatbto thunk anymore. I woke up kind of anxious but will pray and take my pills what else can I do??
I know how awful it can be, I've been having a hard time myself lately. I try to stay as positive as I can and I've started writing down something I'm grateful for every day. Even if it's just something like, I didn't spill my coffee today, it helps me focus on the good things I do have. Deep breathing and walks outside also help calm me some times. Sending you peaceful and healing vibes. ❤🌹
I will pray for you too. We're all in this together whether we realize it or not. Proper nutrition, some timely vit/minerals & the well wishes of your piers can only help. I'm just a message away for anyone who needs me.
Going vegan helps very much. Type “vegan” In YouTube search box and watch talks by authorities from very prestigious universities and hospitals. They have nothing to sell and hence there is no conflict of interest. They want all of us to be very healthy—both physically and mentally 💐❤️🇺🇸
I also had a critical low in vitamin D, and iron. I've been stable, and I've not hit as low as I was when I found out. I still have persistent depression and anxiety, but at a manageable level.
