For those who have headaches due to anxiety. How was your experience and what did you do about it? I feel recently I had my first major anxiety tension headache. I am pretty scared I hope it does not mean something worse..

I am walking and I do not have slurred speech.

Yes anxiety can make headaches worse or cause.. Deep breathing definitely helps in general 😊.. Think of a happy time, or place..

Thank you. For me this is the worst of all symptoms.

For me I just try to do deep breathing and also try to think positive thoughts .

I have found that I also recently have had a daily headache from maybe my anxiety and from the pollens in the air this time of year. It is pain behind the eyes and also down in my neck. Haven’t gone to the dr, though. It isn’t real bad, just an inconvenience.

Hi jwhitleyjr I'm sorry to hear you are suffering from tension headaches.

I too many years ago had daily tension headaches aka muscular contraction headaches

That name alone tells you how painful and debilitating these can be. Muscles knots

can form at the base of the skull, as well as neck and upper shoulders.

I would put hot towels on my neck and shoulders and listen to meditation tapes for

hours at a time. The more I cried or got upset with the intense pain, the tighter the spasms

became.

What finally helped, since pain meds don't, was having physical therapy to break up those

trigger p oints. But that's just the beginning. Until we address the stress in our lives,

the tension headaches will go on once they have gained control. I missed so much in my

life due to these headaches more than with anxiety. Don't give up, see a Neurologist as

I did to confirm that these were indeed stress related. It will one day be a thing of the past

as mine became. My best to you :) xx

Yes, I keep putting off those towel techniques. My doctor told me once that anxiety can be debilitating I see what he means. Thank God this does not happen often it just comes on occasion. I will look into my neurologist. I am so sorry you misses so much having these headaches Agora.

They were bad and were daily, only interrupted by monthly migraines due to

hormonal changes...For me, physical therapy as well as relaxation meditation

helped immensely. As for the migraines, hydration was the key.

I hope you get a handle on these headaches soon. They are debilitating for sure :) xx

Hello,

I know this is an older post but I have been experiencing headaches daily for the past month or so, DR told me it's the stress/anxiety causing it, were you able to deal with yours and get them under control? Some days I just feel miserable because of it.
