I retired in 2021. Was traveling at first and doing well. After that all ended it was like a switch was flipped. My obsessive anxiety and some depression hit. I feel so wrong for having this as I have a good life. I feel broken. Going out alone is anxiety provoking as I am afraid to have overwhelming anxiety while out. I am very hard on myself and so sadason that I am not enjoying retirement with my hubby. How to stop monitoring every thought or how I feel while doing everything. I want to go visit family out of state but worried the anxiety will ruin it. Being like this without a reason is embarrassing and painful for me to understand. Anyone else have this issues and what do you do. New to this site as I need to not feel so alone.

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear mental health issues are getting in the way of you enjoying retirement. You are not broken and it is not your fault. I hope being here will be helpful.
Congratulations Trish23 on your retirement as well as a warm Welcome to our safe support site.
Whenever there is a change in our lives, anxiety can move in
and take a leading role in our lives. It can prevent us from enjoying
what we worked so hard to achieve.
Anxiety can make you feel threatened by you retiring as well as putting
doubts and what ifs in your mind. You say you have a good life but possibly
something is bothering you to cause anxiety and fear to move in.
Sometimes, seeing a therapist for a short time can help guide you to a
better path. If necessary medication can also be added for a short time
to break that cycle of doubt and fear.
Whatever you decide to do, we can help support you because we understand
the feelings and the way of thinking that have changed. I'm happy you have
reached out to us. Looking forward in getting to know you xx
