Hi everyone, my name is Amie and I’m new to the community.

I have been seeing a therapist for anxiety-related issues and depression for over two years. While it’s helped, I still often times feel very alone, isolated, and sad.

Anxiety and depression have definitely been the hardest things I’ve had to deal with in my life, it’s an everyday battle. Sometimes I feel like the dark cloud I get consumed in will never blow over and pass.

I think it would be great to have a community to remind myself that I’m not alone. I look forward to hearing about your experiences and offering support to one another

Hi! Welcome to the group. What are some things you're doing, besides therapy, to feel better?

Exercise has been shown to have a positive effect. Getting out in nature does too.

I like guided mediations and affirmations on YouTube. I also go to a support group called Adult Children of Alcoholics (adult children.org) and have found that to be helpful - it makes me feel less alone.

Hi! I do enjoy getting out in nature and exercising. I also like drawing, cooking, and watching a good TV show to make me feel better and to take my mind off of things. Did the guided meditations and affirmations on YouTube help you? Thanks for the recommendations!

Yes - search for "meditation anxiety" or "affirmations anxiety." There are several to choose from, so you can pick the ones that resonate with you.

Hi Amie, welcome to the community here, I've only been here a few days myself and it really has changed things for the better... Like you said it would be good to have a place to kinda let off steam, offload some of that anxiety and the confusion that comes with it...

I've suffered with anxiety for years though for a long time (years again) I didn't know what was going on, understand it I just thought I was a bit mad but I drank a lot, a binge drinker and obviously that didn't help...

I still suffer from the anxiety badly now but am more educated which to a certain extent helps a bit but some days my little brain pulls the shutters down...

I found this place and it really is helping me, I'm definitely feeling better about my situation. But you're bang on when you say you're not alone, and there'll always be someone on here that can talk listen ( well read and understand) it's a great tool to pick you up when you need it and we all do! That's why we're here... To help and learn from each others experiences and knowledge... It all helps 💯👍🏻🙂

Hey there!

You are definitely not alone! We are here for you whenever you need us. Have you looked into in-person support groups as well? I know that can help sometimes more than these online forums (while still awesome) because you are meeting and seeing people face to face. Just a thought. ;-)

Thanks so much! I have. I would love to go but I am honestly very shy; the thought of sharing my experiences face to face with a group of other people feels daunting. I want to work up the courage to go to one! 😬

Glad you’re here!

I know what you mean, sometimes even though I know I have people, I feel alone too. Mental illness lies a lot, but one of the reasons this group is great is because there are so many people sharing their experiences that it makes it a bit easier to see what’s real and what’s your illness lying to you
