I received a letter from my long-term disability insurance provider. They were letting me know that due to the fact that I have a mental health diagnosis on the account they are limited to only paying me for the next two years. However the representative said that if I had a ‘real medical diagnosis’ then it would maintain my pay through 2000 whatever is my retirement date.
Side note: I have severe physical neurological issues that keep me from functioning properly! Long story short, my brains lit up all over the place constantly. It causes me to have some pretty gnarly nystagmus. And other fun things! But they are going to send me this letter?
How is that supposed to help my anxiety? Or to anyone who happens to have a mental health diagnosis. For this company to stigmatize a true and genuine disability simply because it is in the DSM rather than an ICD code. When will people realize that it’s all one body? Uhm, all of the nerves all of the tissues all of the cells …they intermingle. it is a complete environment inside.
But let’s eliminate her health care and pension because The wrong system in her body is broken.
I see my neurologist next month I’ll just hand him the letter. I am trying very hard not to allow this to crank my blood pressure.
Anyhow that’s been my day.
