Does anyone take an add-on (like Rexulti) with their antidepressant? I've been fine for quite awhile, am the opposite of fine right now, and was thinking of adding on something to my Pristiq, or perhaps just changing meds.
I don't necessarily like going this route, but I'm doing everything I'm supposed to and can't pull myself out of this.

Hi there and welcome on here.... it sounds like you might need some more to your pristiq. I am not familiar with add ones but looking at your age, do you think hormones could add to the dilemma? I am saying that as I am 54 and had to be put on hormone replacement therapy in order for the antidepressant to even work. Finally after about 4/5 months.. the HRT kicked in and I am starting to feel better. Suffered from depression and anxiety.... big time. Just a thought... hav3 your hormone levels checked and also thyroid in case you haven’t yet. Intense cardio and no coffee and alcohol and lots of therapy (!,,,,,!) helped me a lot too! And I’m still in the middle of it... but feeling so much better... life and menopause surely threw me for a loop!! But there is help out there! Good luck my friend.
I have tried Buspar before. It did not help me, but I have since been diagnosed with drug resistant MDD, so that doesn't mean Buspar doesn't work well! What drew me (and my psychiatrist) to it was the general lack of side effects and ease of titration. I commend you for advocating for yourself and searching out additional options while going through depression. It takes so much energy--I hope you find a good booster for your antidepressant.
I've been on Pristiq for a couple of years and did real well on it until a few months ago and felt like hit a wall with anxiety and depression and wondered if it had quit working. I also talked to my provider about a supplement but it wound up that I was low in testosterone and was on the wrong thyroid med. It also turned out that I have a Mthfr and Comt gene mutation. My med provider recommended adding SAMe, Vit. B-12 and Methyl Folate and with the testosterone injections and the right thyroid med I feel much better. It took about four weeks. Turns out that the Pristiq was fine. I am on 75mg of it.
