Intrusive thoughts

I have suffered from these intrusive thoughts since I was a teenager and probably earlier. I’m on medication that seems to help sometimes but I’m always having setbacks. Just always looking for advice

I deal with intrusive-obsessives thoughts everyday and the best advice I can give is to let thoughts come, don't try to fight against them, let them come and then ignore them

Is like a really bad, awful roommate who never goes out of your way, he is always bothering you and you can't get rid of him, you can't kill him so you have to accept he is there with you no matter what and ignore him

If you try to rationalize your thoughts and you try to fight against them, you are making them stronger and your situation and anxiety gets worse

I used to have intrusive thoughts. What helped the most for me was to get less uptight about how I shouldn't be thinking that thought. It's like if a toddler swears, the worst thing you can do is start yelling at them that they shouldn't say that, because of course they will say it again to get a big reaction. Instead, you just look at them, think "oh wow, I wonder where that came from" and go on to the next thing.

Mindfulness meditation can help you notice thoughts without judging them as good or bad. It can also help you separate yourself from your thoughts.

I used to be very rigid religiously, and I think that's where the intrusive thoughts were coming for me. Once I started to lighten up and realize that God doesn't really care that I'm having inappropriate thoughts, he won't punish me for them or anything, those thoughts started to go away.

I hope this was helpful. I know my case wasn't very severe, so someone else might have more insight on how to deal with severe cases.

I have always obsessed over most thoughts -- always have. It's quite exhausting to be honest. Mindfulness helps a lot. Distraction does as well. For me, if it's going to be distraction, it has to be something big. This is where exercise comes in handy. I exercise at least 3 times/week at my gym. My latest class was Yin Yoga. Have you heard of this? This is great at helping you to become centered. Tomorrow will be aerobics.

I have been terrible when it comes to exercise besides walking at work and walking dogs at home. But my wife purchased a Pelaton and I think it’s time for me to start using it

Seek professional help. I do not say that in a sarcastic way or a serious way. I say that as the truth & good advics. CBT is very helpful at reframing your thoughts to work for you and not against you. A psychologist can help you. Dont allow another day to go by and fight. Theres no need to suffer just go and get the help. It'll change the trajectory of your life & that is priceless!

I have both a psychologist and psychiatrist and I’m on medication but sometimes they just don’t work for me. I found this app and figured it could help as well

Well maybe it's time to get a new psychologist🤷‍♀️ They are not all the same. Take the advice from a person who has had therapy. Expensive therapy. If a therapist cant change your thought patterns then they are doing something wrong. It is my opinion and Im sticking to it. Im a certified Life Coach. Good luck to you.

Thanks I actually just switched to two new ones so I’m giving them a chance. But I appreciate the advice
