My anxiety getting worse.

Hello, I’m just writing to see I could get a bit of advice on what I should do. I’m currently a university student and I’m in my second year, my anxiety at the moment is sky high about my studies and what my future may entail. I’m not one to look for help as I’m perceived to be a pretty strong person but I’m not so I was wondering what I should do? Do I go see a GP about it, go elsewhere for help and advice?

I’m just stuck at the moment and would like some help. Thanks!

You could talk to the Social Team at University, they may help although in a way you may find your family Doctor will prefer to see you and discuss your needs and expectations as you proceed through your next University year, you need to settle yourself so you are calm yourself before your Examinations.

Have you considered the reason for low mood and anxiety.

I’m currently questioning myself will be be good enough for my degree and the job I wanted to do after uni and I’m just worried that if I don’t want to do the career once I’ve graduated what am I going to do

You still have time to work out what will interest you. Sometimes we study and find something has changed and we move on.

My trade was a Marine Engineer and Radio Officer, after two years I left College and became a cable jointer, over the years I changed my work experience and became a Planning design and accounting Engineer. I therefore changed my trade about four times before setting down into something that I had not trained fully for

Don't over think it. My Dad tells me this and he's right. You're already a talented person and going through your courses. You will probably change your mind and career many times. If you start worrying about the future instead of focusing on right now, it will throw you off. Just be that awesome person you already are. Most people that graduate don't even go into field of work. University was one of the funnest times of my life. Enjoy the ride and live for now.

Stop being so hard on yourself. You are pressuring yourself by setting your expectations too high and worrying too much. You should be proud of how far you've come and what a great job you've done up to this point. Everything is going to work out fine. Life is a journey. No matter how hard we plan and prepare, it often takes a different direction through no fault of our own. Stop worry and focus more on enjoying yourself. Good luck. Go treat yourself to something you like. You deserve it. Take a nice hot lavender epsom salt bath.

Hello,

I’m sorry that you are going through this. You can make an appointment with your Primary Physician and also talk to your School Counselor.

There are people who have bachelor’s degree but doing a different job after college and I am one of them. I am happy with what I do now. Take care of yourself and even though you are busy at school, find time for self-care. Praying for you for peace and things will go well with you. Please keep us posted.
