Is Amitriptyline making my depression worse?

I’ve had depression and anxiety on and off for years now and have tried Citalopram and Sertraline which do seem to help a bit. About 2 years ago I started getting ill and have now been Diagnosed with Endometriosis. It was recommended to me to go on Amitriptyline as it’s an antidepressant but also can help with my Endo problems. It didn’t help with my depression but it did help with my Endo so I decided to stay on it which I have been for a year now. Now looking back I realise that I’ve been worse since going on them; I’ve been so angry and even more paranoid and irrational than before. I’ve been more depressed and been having feelings of wishing I could die more than I ever have before. Has anybody else tried Amitriptyline? Please let me know what your experiences have been like. Thank you!

I was on amitriptyline several times in my life and it made me more anxious.I wouldn’t go on it again,but that’s just my experience

Hey girl.. im been thr.. taken every damn pill for depression, had terrible suicidal thoughts, weight gain, memory issues, finally im seeking counselling.. just talk .. n share.. n for me wat helped was coming to terms wit my situation.. i accepted wat happened to me, n i couldnt control it.. shit happened.. try hypnotherapy.. but i dont knw if it works.. write to me.. see ya.. vr always thr wit u..

Thank you for your response 😊 I feel like I am finally coming to terms with everything and you’re right it is helping! I’m now having sessions for managing anxiety so hopefully things will start to improve. I definitely don’t think these meds do me any good.
