illness making my anxiety worse

Hi I have suffered from anxiety and depression for many years. I know that what I’m about to post isn’t really relevant however it is fuelling my anxiety. I’ve had a bad cough for 9 weeks now and been to the doctors 5 times over this period of time. I’ve been coughing up horrible phlegm and been sick with it. I was first told it was an upper respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics which didn’t work. I was then prescribed more antibiotics which didn’t work. I was then prescribed a cough suppressant which didn’t work. I was then prescribed a puffer which didn’t work. Finally I was sent for a chest Xray which came back normal which was a relief. However I’m still coughing. Has anyone had this experience at all it’s really making my anxiety sky high. Thinking of you all and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi thank you for your reply glad to hear you got better 🙏. I’m just baffled as chest Xray was normal and Covid test was negative.

Your anxiety is understandable. You need to see a pulmonologist.

Hello. Quick question; where do you live? Not what's your address, but what are your living arrangements and is it possible that this could be the result of an allergen/mold either being in or otherwise introduced into your environment? I ask because I have a colleague who experienced something similar when it was discovered that her apartment had black mold growing in the walls and her landlord never bothered to fix it.

Hi thank you I live in a three bedroom house and have been here for over thirty years. We do get mould in the bathroom in the winter months but I do my best to get rid of it with mould remover. Sorry to hear about your work colleague though landlords can be well I can’t put the word on here 😖.

I think following up on the mold is a great idea. My friend tried to sell his home for $175k but mold was found..it was so intrenched it literally had to be stripped to its bones to get rid of it at a cost of $100k.

It could also be stress, that was very good advice. Stress , anxiety can do terrible things to you.

I hope you get better
