Hi, I’ve been friends 7-8 months with someone I met on this site. We had an argument yesterday because we hurt each other in recent texts (and lack thereof). I explained my feelings and why i was so very hurt.
He replied, “You’ve always lived in a world of your own creation, [my name]” and proceeded to give his own view of what happened. He was in attack mode and quite insulting.
I responded that his first sentence was cruel and that we all have our own perceptions of events. I said it’s called being Human. I don’t know if I can be friends again.
On this site, saying someone lives in their own world is almost saying someone is crazy or psychotic!!! And I’d expect members of This group, in particular, to have a lot more sensitivity!!! What’s your opinion? What would you do in this situation?

Just because people use this site doesn't mean they can't be jerks at times. I had similar fights/arguments with my ex (we both have various mental health issues), things calmed down after a week and we both moved on and forgave.
hi just guessing its the user who I saw had posted earlier who had said they where upset about falling out with a friend from here best to bury the hatchet put it behind you both.
Not sure what going on with him but I just had the same thing happen to me because feelings got strong really quick. If you want to talk about it hit me up
The truth is, people say hurtful things when they feel hurt. Whether it be from you or from how they feel about something else. Sometimes its best just to give each other a break, especially if fighting isn't a regular thing for you two. I know its hard, but don't let other peoples labels like "crazy" get to you. We can all give advice and our opinions to each other, but you are the only one who knows your own experience. And vice versa.
From my experience I think online friends are a strange breed. To me you can never truly know someone you only know online, and certainly not like you can in real life. I do however have tried and trusted online friends but I have known them forever.
I do hear people saying this type of thing quite a lot but the online friends I have made I have known on here for years. Until then if things go wrong then that's life and it has happened to me too. I keep my distance until I am sure they are ok and it does take lots of pm's etc. to really know someone. x
Maybe he said hurtful things in the middle of being upset, maybe it's not worth throwing away a friendship. But you are right we don't expect people on this site to be more understanding and sensitive, knowing what we all go through.
Previous replies have given you good guidance. If you have reached out to repair the friendship and he's not receptive even after a period of time, then that's all you can do. I hope it works out, but if not, take comfort in knowing you did all you could.
