Hi everyone. I've bought magnesium as I've heard great things about it. I'm not expecting a miracle cure or anything but I'm curious to try it. The only thing is I don't want to use it as a sleep aid just yet. I'd like to first try it out during the daytime, in the morning when my anxiety feels the worst. Is this recommended? Timewise is it ok to take it during lunch time? A bit nervous to try magnesium in case it makes me feel weird. I get horrible headaches with B12 supplement so I take the shot instead.

I take iron at breakfast and dinner. Then before bed I sometimes take melatonin. It sounds like I'll be taking too much. On top of this my Dr told me to take Vitamin D as it's low. How do I space out Iron, Magnesium and Vitamin D for maximum effect?

The first time I ever took magnesium citrate for anxiety, I took two 250 mg soft gels. Within an hour I felt better.

Another member of these boards recommended that I try that when I was feeling especially anxious. For “normal” days, he recommended that I take four of those softgels, spread out over the day.

I was doing OK with that. But this is the thing: I was also trying meditation and breathing techniques. I was also coming here and interacting with other people. I also have some supportive people IRL. So how do I know which of these things helped me? Or maybe it was a combination of things.

Almost two weeks ago, I had a day when I was so anxious my digestive system was messed up. I couldn’t eat or take medicine that day. Now, I’m fine and I’m back to eating and taking prescribed meds. But I have not resumed taking the magnesium citrate. That’s because it can also be used as a laxative, and I had had digestive problems, and was afraid to try it again.

Hi there and thank you for responding. It makes sense you wouldn't want to try magnesium during bouts on your stomach. I also believe everything you were doing in combination helped you, if it worked keep doing it!

As for me, I bought magnesium glycinate which is meant to help for anxiety and sleep as well. Considering I'm also doing meditation and continuing every day life going ons, I hope magnesium helps and adds a better quality day as I heard it does.

Hope you're having a great day!
