Do you want to try Magnesium to calm?

The best type of magnesium for relaxation I found out from my oldest son who is good at researching is Natural Rhythm Triple Calm found on Amazon. It’s helping so much so wanted to share. Let me know how it works for you if you decide to try.

Thank you! Finally. I took it for the first time this morning and I was in panic mode and now I’m still struggling a bit with scary thoughts but my body is more relaxed

I am taking it morning and night. I don’t know if there is a limit to the amount supposed to take.

Starrlight, (or anybody here)

Have you ever, or (better yet) are you currently taking any Benzos?

I take Klonopin, but mainly just for sleep and anxiety emergencies.

.

My question - How does this feel in comparison to Benzos?

I'm sure (for starters) that it's safer, but does it have the same or similar effect to Benzos?

I've always wanted to try magnesium, and compare it to something like B6/B12 vitamins (AKA natural supplements) so I might be giving this a try, but also looking for a head up on it.

I’m on a benzo that has barely any effect on me now so I’ve got to say this magnesium is working better than the low dose benzo (ativan)

I was never a big fan of Antivan.

Klonopin is safer "for me", but it's definitely not for everyone.

.

Basically where I was going with this is (for those that have heard of Buspar) I at one point was going to try Buspar (many years ago) but from what I read, most people have said that if you already have taken Benzos, then you won't feel the effects of Buspar.

I take ativan plus Buspar and Buspar is helpful I find for myself.

I am currently taking Effexor low dose and klonopin 1.5 a day. Do you know if magnesium will interact with these?

I really don’t think so but ask your psychiatrist.

They say it doesn't have a laxative effect like other magnesium pills, is that true ? That has always been my problem with magnesium but if this one is different I'm willing to try it to feel less anxious !

Good question! I don’t think it does. I think my son said that was another type.

Sounds good, Can you say which one you are taking and at what dose?

Sure let me look it up...

150 mg 2 capsules a day. I already took two and will take 2 more tonight if I do some research to see if that is too much...

I've been taking magnesium glycinate capsules for awhile now. Can't tell if they help or not. Sometimes you don't know if anything works or not unless you stop taking it. If you stop and then worse off, then you know it helps.

True although I happened to noticed a difference the first try taking them.

I can't tell if it's working for me. But I also take Deplin. Mostly vitamin b. You need a script for it. Can't tell if it helps either because I haven't stopped using it too see if there's a difference. But I know people (including my mom) who swear by it.

I had a child therapist friend many years ago who didn't believe in over medicating children, and the first thing she asked the parents to do was give their kids a multi-mineral, and a vit.B complex to help with moods and attention span. It's amazing that sometimes the simple things work so much better....like eating a banana for muscle cramps...Potassium.

Since we're talking about safer natural anxiety recommendations here.

I'm going to throw one out of my own.

It's called "Bach Rescue Pastilles". (that you can also buy on Amazon)

.

It's basically hard candy that comes in a circle tin can that helps to calm you down when your anxiety first starts kicking up. (and you're kind of in a bad spot to try to talk your symptoms down)

This would be to help more with GAD mild to medium anxiety flare ups (AS NEEDED), without needing to take a benzo.

This was kind of helpful for me back when I needed to take each one of my parents to the Emergency Room (for different reasons) shortly before I joined this site.

It helped calm me down with a milder "rebound effect" (AKA - "that feeling" of being more anxious after it wears off) than a benzo would normally give .

& Yes.. I'm not a medical professional, and always listen to your doctors, but "for me", I found it to be relatively safe to take "as needed". (not daily)

I love Bachs rescuer remedy and use the drops a lot, not tried the pastilles .

You don't need to get a brand. Magnesium is cheap. What matters is the type of magnesium. The ones that relax your muscles are the versions that make you sleepy and thus relaxed. I got the right one with the help of a clerk in my local natural food store.
