my anxiety drives me crazy in the morning. I wake up around 4:30 or 5:00 and just lay there trying to go back to sleep. I keep having weird thoughts like there are rules in my head as to how I can sleep. I have to follow the rules and I never do. I know it's just my brain messing with me, but I just want to sleep normally like I used to. It's only been 4 months that I have experienced this. It could be the meds. maybe ativan? does anyone else experience anything like this or just have a hard time sleeping in the morning?

You can develop tolerance and dependence too Ativan and all other types of benzodiazepines. If you are taking this med before bed to sleep, it's possible that when your blood levels of Ativan get low it makes it difficult to sleep due to a dependence you may have developed. If you have to take a med to sleep the hypnotic meds such as lunesta and Ambien XR are better choices due to longer half life and long term efficacy.
Hi, do you know if those meds make you feel groggy in the morning. I have such a hard time getting going. although that might be because I'm not getting the sleep I need.
It depends on the individual, but typically not if you get on the right dosage. Keep in mind that these meds can be habit forming if used on a regular basis. Also if you have been taking the Ativan on a regular basis dependence may have developed. If you can avoid taking the Ativan imo you should do so, however if you and your doctor determine that you need to continue taking benzo med you may want to discuss taking one that has a longer half life.
