I have a child that is completely out of control. They so far diagnosed with her o.d.d. & impluse control. Are there meds that can help?

She started the thearpy part a few month ago outside of the school one, but has yet to see the doctor that would prescribe medication. That isn't still till next month! Sc is terrible for mental health issues. Just i been reading up on it and seem to be mostly behavioral therapy for odd. At this point none of that has worked. She's actually gotten worse so (never thought I'd EVER say this lol) but I'm praying there's a medicine that can help. We are at the end of our ropes at this point . sadly😢 any suggestions or medicine i can ask the doctor about next month please let me know! Thanks!

I have a daughter that was very similar as a child. First of all, I understand the exhaustion and the stress. Finding the right treatment can be a long and frustrating road. Usually ODD doesn’t respond to medications. Have you gotten a second opinion to make sure? I am glad you have an appointment for psychiatry. Have your read the book The Explosive Child by Ross Greene? You can also find his website and videos on YouTube. His approach is the best I’ve seen. I have worked in children’s mental health services and this can make a difference. It is a different way to parent. But it takes the struggle out of it.
