I wanted to know if you’re married and your spouse is the one who brings home the income, and I’m the one who stays at home (homemaker). How would the taxes be filed? We have two kids. Also he is illegal here in the U.S. so how would that work? Would he claim all of us? He maintains and provides for the household all year long. I was born here in the U.S. so were both of our kids. Please do not judge the situation or dare say anything offensive or you will be blocked.

I am the only that works too. I file married filed jointly to get better tax exemptions and only children under 17 can be claimed as a dependent not a non working spouse. If he is illegal he may not have a social and he would have to have one. If his employer pays by check and reports it he has to report it. If it's cash and his employer doesn't report it which would not be a benifit to the employer, it is illegal but not necessary or possible to report without a social security number.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Also, only if he's contract labor and his employer reports it he has to give him a tax identification number and he could report it that way if no social.
It's sad that you have remind people not to judge, I'm sorry. I wont, I'm not sure but I think you have to file, claim kids and head of house hold, with him not being legal I don't know. When did you all get married, how is he paid?
It’s ok I can take and welcome the helpful opinions but it’s not fair to be judged or criticized. Especially when you are looking for help and are putting your info and self out there. And also having researched but not found any helpful insight.
He does work with his name at the company he works at and he does receive a weekly check with his name from the company. I did work this year some and claimed my self and my kids.
Wow think you maybe in the USA not sure though, and not sure what you would do but can you get free legal advice by just ringing somewhere without giving your names so you can not be identified
Yes I am in the US so situations of this sort are very difficult to deal with.
