Mornin' all....I'd like to talk about your adrenal glands for a moment. We all know they are the stress defenders of your body. Several important hormones are related to or directly produced by th adrenal gland. Among them are: Cortisol, DHEA & testosterone. I wanna mention a hormone that gets no attention. Aldosterone is actually an important hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It is responsible for maintaining your electrolite balance & proper blood pressure among other functions. When this hormone is too high or too low, there are many problems that result. High blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, constant dehydration, anxiety, loss of potassium and sodium imbalance, to name just a few things. I was sick for a year before I finally figured out on my own that this hormone was causing my body to malfunction. I had all of the symptoms above. So, why did it malfucntion? It wasn't until recently that I finally figured it out. I had a massive Vit D deficiency that was causing the whole thing. I'm still on potassium, magnesium citrate & Vit D-3. High sodium intake is an aggravation to the whole situation. But, I'm working on it and I'm spreading the word. As I say, a blood test for nutirient levels in your body should be a must. Doctors won't look for a nutritional deficiency as a cause of anxiety or depression. That's gonna have to be your call. As always I wish happiness and good health for all.

I found out a few years ago I have a major vitamin d deficiency. I always can tell when it is low because I start to feel fatigued and muscle cramps... I’m wondering about this hormone then... I’m going for my annual physical in a few weeks... are there blood tests that you’d recommend in your experience?

Hi, Dogmom55, yes you can have you aldosterone tested. It's also a dead giveaway if your potassium & magnesium is severely out of whack. If you feel thirtsy all the time that can be a clue too. High sodium aggravates this situation and increases the dehydration level. Dehydration also has its own set of symptoms. If your Vit D was real low at anytime and stayed that way, chances are you have this problem. It's worth testing for. While you're at it, get your potassium, magnesium, calcium & b vitamins tested too. Get you Vit D level tested everytime you have a checkup, it's the key to the whole thing. As usual, I wish much love and good health in your future.

JEG325, I agree with you in that doctors don't seem to look for nutritional deficiencies but rather take out a prescription pad and put you on meds. I appreciate your thoughts on this. :)

Hi, Agora 1. You're right. This aggravates me in the extreme. You will hear me say this quite often: No disease or disorder was ever caused by a deficiency of a drug. Even the government has to admit that it's nutritional deficiencies that cause disorders. These deficiencies are caused by the hostile environment we live in. Toxic foods and chemicals abound everywhere and they cause our bodies to go haywire. Why then are we trying to fix the problem with more toxic drugs and chemicals? But, I'm not a doctor and legally I have to add that this is only my opinion. However, I've had that opinion for almost 25 years! Always have your nutritional levels tested and include your adrenals & thyroid in that list. You might like my response to Dogmom 55 too. I'm here quite often throughout the day if you wish to talk. Best of wishes for a happy and healthy life as usual.
