I'm was really depressed and anxious all the time but after a few sessions of counseling I've been getting a bit better, I'm hanging around with me people but it's like. I can't be myself around them. I try to be myself but I can't it's like anxiety is still at the back of my head telling me not to say anything. I don't know what to do. My counselor discharged me yesterday cause she thinks that I'm doing ok. 😢😢

I'd go ahead and get with a therapist you feel comfortable with and continue getting help to feel better and learn coping tools to live with this disease....there is no cure....just finding help to live with it. Writing here, sharing, commenting, reading...is also very insightful and supportive....
Hi, fauxartist, PLEASE don’t say there’s no cure—there HAS to be!!! PLEASE...help and ways to cope are great, but I HAVE to believe this will have an end just as it had a beginning...🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I don't thing of it as a good thing or a bad thing...it's just kind of the way it is....just like if your were born with a heart condition and you have to mind yourself around it and take your meds. This disease is just a condition we are born with that we have to learn to manage and cope with.....some day, hopefully in our lifetime....there will be an ability to flip our genes on and off like a light switch and turn off those that cause us depression and other disease.... so we do our best with what we have.
I'm sorry you have been feeling that way...kudos to you for getting help though! It's not easy to do. I would definitely call your counselor for another session.
I struggle with similar issues. I've been to counseling on and off for 20 year. It's always helpful to continue seeing a mentor, pastor or counselor for corrective behavior work. I'd encourage you to seek out a cognitive behavioral therapist. They work with managing your thought processes. I've found best results with Christian counselors.
