I am new and have never reached out before. Year after year I just hope one day something will change but it never does, just gets worse. I know I need help so instead of going to therapy, I'm going to start here. Its true that asking for help is so hard- why is that?

Hello
Hello Rockaun:
Welcome. I think reaching out is hard because most of us are taught to be self sufficient. We are taught that asking for help is a weakness. If we are abused we are taught that no one is to be trusted. We are also taught that mental illness is shameful.
All of these are incorrect.
I hope this is a new start that will help you move forward. We are here to help you as best we can, and give you support.
Namaste
Agreed
A really do feel that reaching out for help means that we become venerable. We are thought to deal with having an emotional connection with anyone other than our family and maybe a lover if we are lucky. I think that is why therapy is so helpful because there are clear boundaries set. The other point is when we ask for help we are becoming willing to listen and sometimes listening can cause us discomfort for many reasons. We really are facing our triggers when we are I this process. Trust either way that this process brings much insight which in turn allows us to be free of the constant chatter that happens within us..
Shame often keeps us from finding help. We do not want to admit we are different than the nom. Some of us are (or were) professinal person with jobs than require much stability. We fear rejection.
People judge. Most do not take the time to try to understand the problem.
