Hi, my name is Brandi and I'm 26 years old. I've been struggling with anxiety and depression for some years now off and on. I am going through a rough patch right now and cannot find anything that motivates me to stay active to help with my anxiety. I generally enjoy working out but with my depression lately I can't seem to make myself go or if I do I won't stay long. I don't know how to deal with both of these together. I usually deal with one or the other but for the past few months they have both been going on. If I'm not feeling depressed, my mind races and my heart pounds and I feel as if I'm going to have a heart attack. I struggle to sleep for more than an hour maybe 2 at a time if I'm lucky. I try to talk to friends about it but they don't understand what I'm going through.

I am so sorry you are struggling. I don't know how you are making it with so little sleep. Depression and anxiety are bad enough without being tired and run down all the time. I agree, friends who have never experienced depression or anxiety find it hard to understand and to be helpful. You can't do this alone. Have you already tried talking to your doctor about what you are experiencing? Is therapy an option or are there support groups you could join? You don't mention your family. Please reach out for support and keep posting here. I wish I had more hopeful things to suggest. Perhaps others will have more ideas.
