Hi laurese i take several meds for my depression venlafaxine, amitriptalene and diazepam ive been on them for some time ive not had to many problems just when i forget to take a dose it can give you problems like nausea and headaches otherwise they work ! I would say dont expect them to work straight away as it can take several weeks to start work any side effects are usually short lived but if they are severe go back to your doctor ! Take care if you need to post anymore questions please ask david !
Hi thanks, ivae started them about 2 and a half weeks ago headaches and nausea and some feelings of being jittery and some chest pain but I heard they should taper off??
Citalopram seems to be very popular all over the place not many side effects
I took Zoloft and my muscles we're so very sore jaw wanted to lock up intense anxiety so they said stop, then they told me to stop citalopram because of the headaches but then they said take it cause it hadn't had time to settle in my system will I ever be myself again?
You are yourself...just with depression. Meds may help and can be a "band aid" or more; therapy to learn why and how to resolve or live with your depression may be helpful for you. Best wishes in your journey.
Thanks
I'm on a bunch of stuff here Venlafaxine, Gabapentin, clonazapam, Trazadone. I don't have any side effects on these and I've been on it a while. I was however on Paxil (made depression really bad), Lexapro (gave me stomach issues), and buproprian (gave me like zero libido). It's all a test and see what works kind of world when it comes to pharmaceuticals.
Ya, it's just frustrating cause I do have side effects, more of being anxious, jittery, and brain zaps and some headaches, but they said give it more time and they've tapered off some just hopefully I can get the right ones soon so I can feel like me again, my anxiety and panic usually are triggered by body sensations so it makes it harder
You need to give a medication which is NOT a benzo at least 3 months for it to relieve symptoms. All of the medications have side effects, it’s is listed on the insert that they give u. Stop complaining and BE PATIENT.
I take Alzean, venlafaxine and mitazapine. I feel awful if I am just late taking the pills. Awful awful illness I just want to be free of drugs. Have a reasonably happy life..
Last year my panic attacks and general anxiety scared me to the core. Wanting to avoid meds at all costs so I made some changes that gave myself the best chance to recover naturally. I avoided sugar and caffeine as much as possible. Thats fuel for anxiety. I made better choices in my diet too. I excercicised regularly. FYI it doesn't need to be extreme. Bikeing or brisk walking will do, just enough to get the blood and oxygen to the brain and detox it. I also began to practice mindfullness and acceptance via meditations and self hypnosis I found on YouTube and on podcasts. I looked inward and inventoried my issues around fear, anger, shame, secrets etc and faced my fears. I also made gratitude lists, helped others in. need and focused on the positives. I did it myself but it's was inspired by a cognitive behavioral therapy called ACT- Acceptanceptance and commitment therapy. Lots of free videos on ACT for anxiety on YouTube It worked for me and I avoided meds and doctor billis. As a bonus, I lost weight and got healthier. . Just a suggestion. Good luck. ✌️
Sounds great! Thanks! I've been in meds for about 3 weeks and I'm hoping to start cognitive behavioral therapy soon, but maybe they can take me off meds, I've never had panic attacks in my life up until 3 months ago and from there it spiralled out of control
I was on 5 meds before and I quit cold turkey, I had withdraw for about 2 months but it went through the fire and felt so good after that then panic attacks came but it runs in my family as well
Medication, they work. They take time, a long time, that’s what I hate. I deal with side effect nausea, insomnia etc no problem, but for god sake if only they would work faster.
Right, they took away my panic attacks but I'm dealing with tension headaches and temple pressure ever experienced those?
My main side effects: initial weeks: gastric related side effects: nausea, vomiting, menstrual cycle disturbed. I also suffered from light headed and “oh god am gonna faint” to tension headaches specially in the morning. The side effects that remained with me after years ( am on Prozac, clonezapam and Amitriptyline) where tremors.
How long did it take for the side effects to go away during the start of the medications? All I'm experiencing at this point are tension headaches and brain zaps sometimes
