I went to see my doctor maybe two weeks ago to see if I could find an alternative option for medication as my side effects are uncomfortable and they’ve been making me suicidal.
She said that these meds could NOT make me suicida this far in but my college pharmacology textbook says other wise.
I wanted to give CBD oil a go, just to see how it’d go, which I’d have to talk to her about it for a prescription. She said no and the “medical community” does not support the use of marijuana for anything other than seizures.
She then said I’d have to stay on these pills for another 2-3 months despite almost being done a “9-month trial period”, I should be done by next month but she tacked a few more months on. And to top this; she said I’ll need to stay on this medication for the rest of my life which I was baffled about.
So I’m currently still on my meds that are giving me uncomfortable symptoms and the depression is lessening due to sunnier weather but I don’t want to be medicated all my life.

I probably don't know nearly as much about medication as you do, since you're studying pharmaceuticals, but have you considered getting gene testing done? Send a swab in through your psychiatrist and wait a while. They'll recommend medications with the least side effects according to your body chemistry.
I am sorry , that very frustrating. I think a good doctor has to listen to his patients.
I have had the same psychiatrist for the past 8 years . he has been very supportive even when I decided to stop my meds or when I complain about side effects . Believe me I stopped my meds many times .
