Dip

I've been feeling well recently. I've taken up new interests and have been feeling content and proud of myself. Why have I dipped for no apparent reason? Maybe this is what I have to live with. Tears are back. No interest in anything. Have taken myself away from people again. My fake smile is hard work. I'm determined to get back up there. I have to.

It's hard I do understand I've woke up this morning feeling hot ill and think I've got an infection coming on.

Hope you're feeling better Felicityd. We have to try so hard to stay on top of it all. We somehow need to try and help ourselves. Easier said than done I know.

Hi Smile 10. Don't worry this is totally normal. Pulling yourself out of a depression takes a lot of energy, confidence and determination. You are not used to "being on top of the world" and even if you feel good, it is still an effort. I think you just need a break and breathe. It does not mean you have gone "backwards", it just means , take a break and be kind to yourself and then get back into whatever you were doing. I know that I have a limited social battery. If I push myself too hard, i will have a dip. I love being social and I am very extrovert and "the life of the party" when I am out with friends, playing rugby or at work, but I also know that I have to take time off all of that in order to keep it going. I will book weekends out in my calendar where I do not allow any activities. On these days i will do something calm and nice that i enjoy like a long bath, listen to my relaxing music, do a guided meditation, maybe go for a walk in the woods, bake, go to a museum, draw, play games or just read a book. Make some nice food and just watch TV/ movie. Whatever rocks your boat. As long as I don't have any "must do's". Ok, I don't have kids, so this may not apply to everyone, but I am sure there are alternatives for parents (I'll leave that for other parents to comment on). give yourself some cred for what you have achieved and don't read too much into your current dip. It is your body telling you you need a breather. Big Hugs Xx

Hi DragonTears. Thank you for your kind words. I totally relate to what you're saying. It's just a horrible stupid situation I find myself in. Funny thing is when I do meet up with friends i actually enjoy it. I am forever cancelling on people though. I've taken up yoga and even that's an effort at the moment. Oh well here I go again trying to climb to the top.
