Temproarily disabling Active 10

Is there a way to temporarily disable Active 10? Every day I take my dog out for a walk first thing. The problem is he walks quite slowly and wants to stop to sniff every so often. I also like to take my phone with me.

I then take him back home. Often I have to bath him to get the mud off this time of year. Then I go out on my own for a brisk walk of at least 30 minutes. The trouble is Active 10 only records the dog walk, not my exercise walk which is very demoralising.

If I could deactivate Active 10 then reactivate it at the start of my proper walk that would be perfect.

Any suggestions?

It should record all your walks. I'd try uninstalling the app and reinstalling see if that works.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I will try what you suggest although, my understanding is that it only records your first walk. I did google whether or not it records your activity if you did more than one walk a day, say a 30 minute one in the morning followed by a 20 minute one in the afternoon. My app certainly didn't and the online response was that it was only designed to record the first one.

I've got the app and it records all mine. And breaks the walk down into total minutes walked and how many were brisk

When you go out for your exercise walk, do you open the A10 app?

If I rely on it tracking in a closed state (which it can, if one opens it every 3 days or so), then I have found it is not as reliable when opening it for a dedicated walk.

Not sure this helps, but let us know!

Leave your phone at home for the doggy walk and take it with you for the second one. My dog does not understand the word ‘brisk’!

I have done that but I like to have my phone with me for practical reasons. I'm involved in running a community wildlife site. Sometimes when walking the dog I need to take a photo of something such as a fallen tree which needs attention. It's more convenient than taking a camera. I'm not one of these people who go for a walk with ear pods in listening to music. I much prefer to listen to the birds singing, but thank you for your suggestion.😊

My Active 10 counts all the minutes of the day when I am walking. So if you deduct the minutes when dogwalking from the total of your brisk walking, you should get the result. The only problem with that is that you will know the time you walked briskly, but the machine won’t.

If I stop to chat with someone, the Active 10 counting stops too but starts again when I start to walk briskly.

Yes, others have said the same thing. However, that has not been my experience. I did a second walk much later in the day to try and bring up my score. Quite a decent length with more than 10 minutes brisk walking but my score for that day remained the same. When I looked online to see how Active 10 was designed to work I read that it only tracks one walk a day.

I think I might have just discovered a possible solution though. Go to Settings and turn off Google Fit. Fingers crossed.👍

I have been out 3 times today and recorded all. As others have suggested maybe reinstall the app or check that there are no outstanding updates in your app folder
