I was asked to introduce myself so here goes. I'm 68 years old taking blood pressure pills, digestive pills, asprin daily to thin my blood, statins, allergy pills and anti depressants. I've had a mini stroke, op for hardening of the arteries, sciatica..Anyway, my main goal has been to get off the anti depressants as they are now making me feel worse. I was on 150mg a night, I'm just starting to take only 50mg a night and I am scared. I've put on lots of weight but New Year's resolution was to get fitter. Joined a gym/spa, got a fitness tracker and I'm doing well so far. I try and do something every day to record on my tracker, I even dance for 1/2 hour. I overdid it and my back "went" so now I know when to stop. Oh, my name is Elizabeth ❤❤

Oh my, Lizzypick, you really have had a torrid time of it lately! I'm so sorry. But you have taken a GIANT step by making the decision to join us onthis forum! Positivity leads to success - and slow and steady progress is our mantra! Don't be afraid to lower your dose of anti depressants - I came off mine (slowly!) shortly after joining this group. You'll be amazed at how your mood improves when you get out in the fresh air and walk! I also stopped eating everything that had white flour in it, and tried stopping the lanzoprazole two months later - I've not had another one since! And, you can't underestimate the power of belonging to a forum like this - we're all facing personal challenges and somehow this make the support offered by the members extra special. It's like being in a room full of friends! You're one of us now and we'll all encourage and support you. x
Thank you Kay. I wish I had looked into the side effects of Amitriptyline earlier than I did. The amount of people who have gained weight is staggering, still, I'm getting there.
PS. no more rock and roll!!!!!!
Hi there and welcome to our little forum. We are a friendly supportive bunch and will help you get to your goals. You have learnt the lesson a few of us had to early on which will help you. A slow and steady build up is better than an aggressive fast one. I myself pushed too soon after surgery and had to take a week off from exercise. Keep coming back and we will help you.
I'm going to Kefalonia in June so my goal is to be fitted and lose weight💞💞💞
We love Kefalonia too and we stay in Skala, people are lovely, so friendly. I've had many experiences there. One time I had a bad bout of sciatica and I was in a lot of pain. I tried to buy a walking stick but despite going to every shop we couldn't find one. I asked our hotel owner of he could find out where I could buy one. The next morning we went down for breakfast and there was 3 walking sticks. One had been his father's and I could borrow it, next two were bought and I chose which one suited me best! He wouldn't take any money for it and I'll never forget that man for his kindness. It made such a difference to my mobility!
Hi Elizabeth, I'm Frances. I started with Active 10 today and like you hope I can maintain motivation to keep with it.
I have a history of health anxiety and I'm hoping exercising will begin to help me manage my symptoms more positively. I also have a 4 month old baby and would like to feel more comfortable in my body post pregnancy and of course healthier!
Sounds like you're off to a roaring start. I really enjoy my fitness tracker - I find it keeps me honest with my efforts. And I love that you dance!! I dance as a pick-me-up quite often. Usually in my kitchen.
Sure is runswithdogs!💞💞💞
Hi
I’ve read that beetroot lowers blood pressure within minutes of eating. I buy it boil for 30 minutes and drink the juice. I save some of the juice for stock in stews etc. I chop it and cover it in vinegar. I read that athletes have been given it and it improved their performance by 13%
I also read that walnut oil relaxes the arteries. You can get the oil from Sainxxxxx
Hope that helps
I love beetroot, thanks for that info I'll definitely try it💞💞💞
