i have hashimotos thyroid disease and i’m on top of testing and taking NDT
my enduring symptoms are PMT- in my case every month 7 days before my period i’m very angry, paranoid at time’s, i’m very hoarse, bloated and fatigued. as soon as i get my period i feel a lot better.
my cycle is 28-29 days and i am not too heavy or in much pain so my main issue is PMT. I take evening primrose oil, ashwaganda, b complex, magnesium oil, selenium, vitamin D, probiotics, coq10, tumeric and omega3.
i want to pay privately for a test but don’t know where to start.
thanks for any help

Pretty much everyone in the health world thinks the Dutch test is the most comprehensive one out there. It's very expensive and needs you to work with a nutritionist to interpret the results, because of the way the results influence one another.
If you wanted to do a blood test, I think you need to understand what it is you're looking for. Our hormones cycle throughout the month, so when I wanted to check for estrogen dominance (which can either be a result of high estrogen or low progesterone), I did a women's hormone test (estrogen, testosterone) on day 2 of my cycle and progesterone on day 21.
This has a good graph showing how hormones cycle throughout the month:
I'd suggest listening to a few podcasts to get to the bottom of what's going on - Well Fed Women is one I listen to, they had a recent episode on Cyclic living that's be worth listening to.
fantastic thank you. i have considered the issue of low progesterone or oestrogen dominance so that may be the best route. i tend to post results in my thyroid group for assistance so have only seen a private nutritionist once ( he’s retired now). as i’m low on funds and feel able to navigate the results myself if i know what i’m looking for. i may need to look for a practitioner if that’s a requirement of the lab. thank you so much for taking the time to respond and for the info/links!
Just as a rough guide, the Dutch test is about £350, whilst blood tests would be about £79 for the main hormone test and £39 for the progesterone (discount codes available, I think Thyroid10 will get you 10% off).
thank you i think i will need to save for the dutch test but may get the medichecks hormone test while it is on 25% discount, have you ever used that one? i thought it might be useful to get that in meantime to see if any obvious deficincies or the like
