First post my daughter has had some helpful replies with her query so hope I do too ! Went back on pill cerelle 5 years ago at 48 as started new relationship after divorce - I have always had pmt since a teenager and 2 years ago started getting what I still refer to as ‘pmt’ again although didn’t have a period due to pill - dr advised I stopped taking it and see what happened had the most horrendous period so starting taking it again - 6 months ago stopped taking it on gps advice to see what my body naturally did - as ‘pmt’ was getting worse I haven’t had a period since stopping it - what I get now is three weeks of the month I’m fine but for one week I’m an emotional mess could cry for no reason and start worrying about the silliest things and get very paranoid - my joints ache - I’m tired but wake in the night but I still have energy to do things - my lower back stomach feel heavy as if I’m going to have a period - my legs feel heavy - and I always get terrible wind during this time - recently I have started having spells were I feel like I’m going to topple over and have severe headache and my eyes hurt so I have to sit until it goes with my eyes closed - I’m 54 now and my dr and I both feel it’s the menopause and have discussed hrt - my question is these symptoms come once a month regular as clockwork is that normal for menopause ? Anyone aware of anything I could take at that time to relieve symptoms - if hrt is the answer I’m willing to give it a go but reluctant as only affects me for that week and the symptoms are not constant all week ? Sorry long post but I can cope with symptoms at moment but my worth is are they going to get worse so I need to do something now ? Thank you
Monthly menopause ??: First post my daughter... - Women's Health
Monthly menopause ??
🤔 This is something that would benefit from a GPs advice, most likely linked to the menopause, but it should be discussed. We’re all aware of general symptoms relating to menopause, but there will always be variations, for peace of mind and the possibility of relief, see your GP.
I'm 72 years old and finally convinced my doctor to put me on HRT! Millions of women were scared off of HRT due to the skewed WHO study back in the day. It was a disaster for millions of us! I have suffered with hot flashes/night sweats/mood swings/ruined marriage, and more because of the lack of hormones in my body. I now am feeling like a human being again and keeping my fingers crossed that my doctor will continue to prescribe HRT for me! Women need these hormones. When my doctor was hesitant to prescribe for me, I asked him how he would like it if, when he started to lose testosterone, how would he feel about the awful side effects that that would cause him?? He wrote me a prescription that day! Please...try them...
Hi I’m 51 18 months ago I started to have dizziness, heart palpitations, achy joints, anxiety and felt like I was walking on a boat. After many heart checks ect a female doctor suggested peri menopause so I started on hrt I’m on a oestrogel which you rub on your skin ( inner thigh or upper arms) and a micronised progesterone these are the safest form of hrt. My symptoms have improved greatly I hope you find some relief. Google Louise Newson she is a menopause specialist lots of good information x
Thanks for your reply - “walking on a boat “ is the exact description of how I feel when I have what I call a funy turn ! My gp is ringing for a phone consultation on Tuesday so will certainly mention the options you suggested to her - and have a look at specialist you suggested - how soon did you see any improvement ??
my dr is happy to give me hrt it’s just me being a big reluctant ! But I think I need to give it a try and you’ve helped me make that decision thank you x
You are welcome I really wish there was more awareness and support for us ladies going through this I had never heard of peri menopause before doctor mentioned it I had to do a lot of research. If you have Facebook there are some menopause groups on there they are very supportive one is menopause support Ladies, UK and Rio x
