Tests and Tests but no answers yet.

Hi All,

I posted several months back due to the fast speed of facial hair, fatigue. We are talking full facial hair like a mans. I returned to the doctors to be told all blood tests showed nothing and the GP told me to get electrolysis as I am fair. I returned to see a male GP who did more detailed bloods to be told I have high testosterone- now there's a surprise, not, and very low estrogen. I explained how fatigued I have been feeling and yet still nothing was given me for the symptoms. He offered to send me to see a Gynaecologist but I requested an endocrinologist instead. Could not wait the 4 months appointment so paid to see Endocrinologist. Running more bloods to see if the testosterone result was a one off, and 24 hr urine test. Possible going on to have an ovaries scan. Not sure where this is going to lead to but I am feeling dreadful. Have to shower at 2am as the flushes are like a river front and back, now I am getting beads of sweat on the forehead and top lip. I have bouts of tearfulness. I have no confidence which does not help when trying to find a job. It seems there is no end to it. Help! anyone please.

Thank You. Bloods said post menopausal. I knew that anyway and doc said I should be through it. Well I am in the thick of it I would say and as we all know it can go on for years. But feeling dreadful is not fun. I get the last lot of bloods and urine test in two weeks. Going private is not cheap, £200.00 for consultation, yet to be build for the tests. That is how desperate I am getting. Thank you for your support. X

Hi, Thanks for your support. Yes the NHS does not seem to be much help with the menopause and what goes with it. I have had the bloods back and they say the same, high testosterone and high oestrogen. I knew that, I have yet to get the urine results, see the consultant on 2nd May. The hot flushes are just non stop. Approx 20 a day. Nights are the worse. Will let you know how I get on. Feel completely exhausted all the time too. I am sure this is what most people feel. I think I will be heading for a scan of my ovaries as he mentioned this last time. Hope you are coping too. Oh to be a woman. x

HI, so I finally have the results and apparently they are inconclusive. So I am now being tested for Cushing Syndrome. Took the tablet at midnight last night and the blood test was done at 9.00am this morning. If this comes back inconclusive then the consultant said I need to go back to my GP and get on HRT. He told me to get laser treatment or Electrolysis. I am surprised a consultant who deals with Hirsutism does not know that laser does not work on blondes. I am beginning to wonder what I am actually paying him for. I thought going private would be more helpful but not so sure now. The flushes are ridiculous and the fatigue is increasing. Just wondering where I go from here.
