Post Menopause and exhausted

Hi all I am new on this forum and I would like to pick the brains of those with more knowledge than myself. I am exhausted and have been some time, I had an early menopause which I appeared to sail through aged 43 and I am now 62. Because I was exhausted I saw a private Dr who after testing diagnosed thyroid and adrenal problems. He also had sex hormones tested but retired before he was able to address them.

The results showed oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone were all below range even for post menopause

progesterone <33pg/ml range 51 - 210

oestradiol <0.68pg/ml range 1.01 - 2.56

testosterone <8.6 pg/ml range 9.8 -42.7

DHEA was also low

Interested to hear thoughts on whether HRT or testosterone cream might help. I did try HRT patches on NHS once but couldn't tolerate them, however I know there are many other options.

Have you got your thyroid test results? Ask for them and post them on the Health Unlocked Thyroid group.

Drs often don't do all the thyroid tests, and even if they do they don't interpret them well. You'll get lots of advice o the thyroid group, to rule a thyroid problem out (or in)

Yes I have then thank you, posted them on there and they have very helpfully responded. I just wanted to see if anyone could help me with these, as I know they are low just not what to do about it.

Ah ok, I'm glad you're on there. They are very knowledgeable people. Did you get any ideas to help you on there?

Yes thank you, i have plans to see a consultant and I have sent off for a thryroid test. i know my thyroid levels are low, but I was unaware of the vitamins I needed to help the thyroid.

You could well feel exhausted if your thyroid is wrong - it regulates all the body systems. And yes it needs vitamins and minerals to help it function properly.

When my T3 level was very low, for nearly 2 years I was often housebound and sometimes chairbound - the exhaustion was overwhelming. Good luck!

yes mine is overwhelming and sometimes I just crash when out and need to rest for a few days after, its a long boring tale and I am sure you have heard it before and lived through it too it sounds! Have you seen a doctor or did you manage to sort it yourself?

It's horrible. And tbh it's cruel that we're put through this, with so many drs not treating people properly.

I was hyper in 1987, had anti thyroid drugs but relapsed when I stopped them, so had radioactive iodine in 1989, then I was very hypo and I've been on T4 ever since. But in 2014 I went downhill fast and was often housebound till 2016, when I finally got on to T3. I've often been anaemic since childhood, and my Vit D was only 18 in 2015, so I supplement them when I need to. I use Medichecks to test all sorts of things! All these are linked and need to be good, not just 'in the normal range'.

Sorry I can't advise on the sex hormones - I hope you get some answers on that.
