It all went wrong when I went on antibiotics three months ago.
I had the most unusual, thick jelly like blob of discharge that had blood in it. A few days after, intense itching on the outside....never felt anything like it! Took an over the counter cure and it soon settled down.
Continued to have weird discharge...thankfully no external symptoms... sort of thick and cloudy with a tinge of blood here and there.
GP swabbed it...said she could see a lot of discharge high in vagina...it came back with a severe candida infection. Again...no external symptoms but thrush high up there! GP told me to try canestan again and said that if that didn't work if have to have the gold treatment (pessary, tablet and cream). I took this last Friday and so still waiting to see if anything changes..!
I'm really scared and down about all this I'm out of my smear by a handful of months (appointment soon but the GP who swabbed me examined cervix and said it looked healthy). Today I tried sex....protected so not to pass it on.....checked immediately after and no bleeding on me or him but when I stuffed a tissue up me to see, there was some fresh looking small amounts of blood (....I know...stuffing a tissue up me over and over isnt likely doing me any favours!)
Did anyone else get a thick; jelly like discharge that had a bit of pink/orange/tiny bits of red blood with a severe infection?
The whole thing has made me very depressed and feeling the lowest I've ever felt in my life xxx

I had a uti about 6 weeks back had no symptoms as doct said it was further up, went on antibiotics which made me feel sick, i have just had bleeding 2 weeks after my period which has never happened and then yesterday a week since that bleeding, a blob jelly like mucus, however mine didn't contain blood so im having a pelvic ultrasound tomorrow as doct says any abnormal bleeding should be investigated, also have you ruled out pregnancy?
Yes I've ruled it out...not pregnant xx I dont want to be pregnant but at least that would be an explanation if true seems a bit better today but there was still the tiniest bit of red blood when I went up there to investigate. None on pantiliner....it seems high up and only when I stick something up there. I dont think that is helping but I cant help but obsessively check xx
I’ve had thrush for four months now, after antibiotic use. My discharge has been very heavy, but watery. Everytime I was swabbed it came back thrush but I was convinced it was something sinister like cervical cancer as I was also nearly due a smear. I’ve finally had my smear and all was absolutely fine.
I still have thrush and I’m on one fluconazole tablet a week now for six months. I’ve just been swabbed again to see if I have an uncommon strain which needs different medication.
I had bleeding when I was at my most sore. Bleeding on wiping.
I also obsessively checked and to be honest I still do a bit!
Thank you so much Katieeee xxx that is really reassuring for me. I'm anxious about it because I'm fearing the worst...but hearing your story has lifted my mood! I'm booked in at the GPs next week 23rd...it's a Male GP which is adding to the anxiety....haven't ever seen a Male GP for this stuff and thought.....oh....maybe I had better check that they can do it (LOL I am sure they can....!)
Just had a sneaky poke around...I think the combined treatment worked as it all appears good...no thick or sticky discharge...no blood. I think I just have to leave it alone and you too if I may say so 😂 You dont want to give yourself another infection! I have vowed not to touch anything...just got to wait for my appointment xxx
Just an update...emailed the GP and said...I'm so anxious I can't wait... PLEASE can you see me today. GP phoned back and said...yes I'll see you today but 1) I cant do a smear (as I've not done the update training) be 2) if this is thrush again, im testing you for diabetes.
Just got back...cervix is perfectly placed, no suspicious areas...it is smooth and no bumps....vaginal walls are smooth but up at the top of my vagina.......THERE'S STILL THRUSH UP THERE! Graaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
It's been swabbed again but GP is almost certain it's still there....sigh. I have now had 5 treatments.
Got to get booked in for smear test but she isnt worried about that. Also a blood test for diabetes. She says my discharge is likely normal (many ladies get blob discharge) and she feels that the bleeding is coming from irritation (strict orders...absolutely no tissue or prodding from now on).
Just thought I'd update for anyone who is interested xxx
So identical to me! At least you can rest easy about your cervix now. That was my intense worry too.
I’ve been tested for diabetes and nothing. It’s the antibiotic use we both had. They’ve totally wiped out our good bacteria. I’m eating lots of Kefir at the moment (strong probiotic - it’s pretty yuk!) and taking an oral probiotic from Holland and Barratt.
Katieee you are kind to reply. Thank you. Seeing your messages has been really reassuring...thank you so much. I agree...low on good bacteria. I could've really done without the antibiotics but they wanted me to take as a precaution....wish I'd not taken them....also....my last prescription cost me £23.......this is getting expensive lol.
The GP did mention what you said about probiotics. Not heard of Kefir but I'm defo going to look it up. Thanks so much again xxx
Its been 3 years and i hope you are well and not sure if you will see or reply to this but thought i would ask...
How did you get on with everything? Ive had the same thing with thrush & bleeding. Doctors said no way could thrush cause bleeding but i did the same prodding and poking around (finger and tissue) and did many treatments. I stopped this and was fine for like 3 months and then it came back. also had the blob jelly thing one time as well that had some blood in.
