I haven't been on here for ages. Prompted to come back as I have just been for a pre-diabetic check, as last years blood test showed raised blood sugars, which was a big shock!
I am not a lot overweight, but any loss will be helpful I feel, so thought some support would help, and I need some recipe tips as I think I am stuck in a rut.
Thanks

Hello Beestonbabe and welcome to the Weigh Loss Forum

I was pre-diabetic last year and have just had my blood tests today to see how I am doing but, all would point towards not being in that bracket as was told last week that I wasn't pre-diabetic when I had other blood tests in December ( no one told me at that time ) so, what I did was cut my sugar intake and swap white rice for wholegrain/brown rice, white potatoes for sweet potato and joined slimming world as I was overweight. Just got weighed today and I have lost just shy of 3 stones and just over 10 inches off my waist. I am vegetarian, wheat and dairy free anyway and pretty inactive due to cfs/me. I eat more vegetables and fruit and dairy free yogurt now also which I feel has helped.
There is a link between visceral fat ( where mine was happily sitting) and diabetes as it is cushioning the organs so the aim for me was to loose this and my plan was to get my waist as near to 31.5 as possible. I am still in disbelief that I am nearly there. I set my goal on here as 32 inch and have been there for quite a while and presently just under that. It can be done !
I responded to a post by Minteamascara on here that I read recently about a link with stress and diabetes and believe this was also a contributing factor for myself, do you feel stress is an issue for you?
Hope this is helpful and good luck with reversing the prediabetes! For me it would appear I managed to go from 46 to 40 in 3 months, I joked to the Dr that I needn't have lost all the weight after December then 🤣
Hello, good to see your post as exactly the same has happened to me, quite a shock because I’m not hugely overweight but I do have heart disease, so don’t want to add anything else to my poor body!! I managed to get my blood sugars down a bit by avoiding anything’white’ and changing to brown rice, pasta , bread and minimising sweet things. I do need to lose weight now as I have too much fat around my middle, going to join the weigh in today as well... so good luck to you too! 🌸
The Hairy Bikers have just come up with a Dieters book for Type 2 diabetics; also the original Poldark, Robin Ellis has just published a vegetarian Mediterranean recipe book for diabetes as well.
I have the Hairy Biker's one and am awaiting the Robin Ellis one.
