Evening everyone well I havent been on here for long long time but Im back again and its the same story!!
Been struggling to lose weight, Im 54 and find it so difficult...then since lockdown I have gained another ten pounds!!! I never gain that quick but this pandemic has caused me anxiety and I have been comfort eating.
Im working from home so not covering many steps daily, I do walk dogs, gyms are closed so I bought some nice new headphones to go longer walks but just struggling to get motivated!!
Normally Im also busy helping with the grandkids but still not able to spend time with them due to lockdown which is also probably making me feel so fed up!!
I need to get focused 🙄 and do this!! 👍

It's really tough isn't it? I've found two things that have helped me during lockdown (I'm working at home too and can see the fridge from my "desk")
1 - I meal plan a week ahead and do one big shop directly after eating a good meal. This way I only buy what we need and if I'm full I'm not tempted by other things. I've never been this organised before, but I can't eat what I don't have, and lockdown has made it much harder to justify nipping out to buy biscuits, so that's worked to my advantage.
2 - Now I don't have a commute, I try and spend the time I would have been travelling (about 40mins) to go for a walk instead. I have a step tracker which sets me a target each day and I get a bit competitive in trying to hit it. We've got to explore a bit more of the local area than we've done before, and I can still be home when I normally would be so I don't feel I've lost any of my day or that I can't fit it in to my schedule.
It must be sad not to be spending time with your grandchildren - I hope you get to be with them soon.
Thank you Garfield...yes because we now cant nip to local shops I have been picking up to many junk foods on the weekly shop...I think I go into panic mode doing the shopping and the comfort foods go in the trolley!! Good advice to shop after a meal, I did weekly shop yesterday came home and as dinner was going to be late I ate crisps and chocolate 😩 and yes I need to try get the steps up!! Thanks
As a reminder, All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
But you’re back and, despite lockdown, want to get back on track. First step done - you can do this and it’ll feel really good when you start to feel fitter/thinner again. Good luck
You'll find all the information you need in our Pinned Posts by following this link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I recommend joining a weekly weigh in (why not today?) and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.
I'm also a 54 year old nana that's missing my granddaughter and am now working from home so miss out on my 2 miles walking round the office per day.
I echo Garfield_123 .
I plan my meals and shop only once per week and don't buy any unhealthy snacks or alcohol. If i don't buy it then I can't eat it. I also so for a long walk once work is finished. It helps me put work away for the day.
If I need to relax I do online yoga. Currently following a large yoga instructor on youtube who does some adaptations to positions to accommodate larger bodies.
Join in with the daily diary - posting my menu each day keeps me on track and honest with myself about what I eat.
I suppose my motivation is that I want to be as healthy as possible to enjoy my granddaughter and impending new granddaughter as long as possible.
Thanks so much, yes its so hard missing the little one! Im definitly shopping in panic mode, as if I have to get everythn for seven days and all through lockdown I have been throwing crisps etc in that trolley, I dont bother with alcohol but like some chocolate!! I need to get the walking back on track and I fancy doing some pilates or yoga!! Thanks again
