Hey, I was meant to start losing weight a few months back when I joined but unfortunately I just couldn’t get in the right mindset, so instead I’ve gained weight and I am currently 13st 5ibs. I know it’s new year and people make resolutions but I’m not here to do that, as such I need to change my lifestyle, not just me eating but it’s can’t happen overnight for me else I will fail. Instead I’ve been making slow changes to what I eat as well as my family, like wholegrain spaghetti and adding lentils with less mince to spaghetti Bolognese and checking portion sizes. Take out is the worse culprit for me as after a long day getting something delivered that caters for us all was easier but now I feel so guilty and bad that I’ve done this to my family as well so my biggest change so far is no takeout.
Hopefully I can keep up the momentum and by this time next year i will be healthier and lighter.
Happy new year everyone x

A good way of getting into the forum is by joining a weekly weigh-in on the day of your choice, and sharing your meal plans on the Daily Diary. They, and lots more besides, are in Pinned Posts and this is where you'll find them healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I see you joined the Feelgood Friday Team in August: maybe you'd like to re-join them, or whatever day you prefer
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Hi - please may I ask did you join the NHS 12 week program and loose weight or did you do intermittent fasting? I have been fasting for around 7 months however stopped because my hair was starting to come out. My B12 was also extremely low. I believe because I went to OMAD I unintentionally cut out certain food groups.
I thought the NHS 12 week was very different to fasting.
Seems I am in the same situation as you - signed up last May not long after losing my Mum, then the depression hit and I comfort ate...
But, down but not out as they say!
My husband has type 2 diabetes and it’s affecting his eyesight, so this has spurred us both on to really tackle the weight problem. We are taking Diabetes UK advice and going low carb (I cannot get my head round eating more fats, though! Seems wrong after so many years of being told not to!) Takeouts a big problem here too, so am going to miss pizza!
Well, good luck! 🍀
Sounds like you've made a good start. We've tried spelt pasta but it is a struggle as I prefer white. Trying to change lifestyle is what I need to do too but it is a challenge. Good luck to you.
Thank goodness you have called it a lifestyle rather than the dreaded D word . I work long days and like you isn't it easy to just order food in ? I cook and freeze dishes so just have to warm them up . I don't ban any foods . If you do this long term then the odd pizza wouldn't matter - maybe once a month with a film ...as this for me is a for life eating plan - not a punishment and I feel faddy - don't ever eat this mindset wouldn't work for me .
A quick 2-3 egg omelette with a large mixed salad is so easy to do . I add some lean chopped ham and some pickled onions to stop the temptation to reach for the mayo jar - in fact I don't buy it anymore . If it's not in the fridge - I can't eat it and thats my mindset when I shop . Over Xmas I have eaten quite a lot of crisps , crackers and chocolate . I actually feel very sluggish and not great . I am back to my Zumba on Sat . My chocs are gone . I have to do a big supermarket shop now all the rubbish has gone and I am actually looking forward to buying loads of fruit , salad , chicken and fish . I have also gained 2.5kg which I feel will easily be lost but it has also rung bells into my head as to what junk food actually does to you even just for a week . Yes - I enjoyed the alcohol and rich food at the time but I am more looking forward to getting rid of the weight I put on too.
