Keto diet advice please
Hello Obeselady .
Welcome to the Weight Loss Forum 😊
Ketogenic and Low-Carbohydrate eating plans are increasing in popularity and many people do really well on them. Have a look at the LCHF forum here healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet and also DietDoctor website (there is a free version)
If you haven’t already then please read the Pinned Posts here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Please read it carefully so you can find all the information you need to find your way around.
As a peer to peer support group we rely on mutual encouragement, and beats joining in, reading posts and replying to others. Our group Weigh-in and the Daily Diary are probably the best places to start.
Lastly, please think about changing your username, we really do become what we are labelled, how about LovelyLady for example.
Best wishes in your weight loss journey
Indigo 😊
Welcome Obeselady (let's try to change that name!)
You don't have to pay for keto, though getting a hand to get started might be a good idea. Spend some time on dietdoctor.com. They do charge for some service, but there is a ton of free info on there and they have a free 14 day starting meal plan. If you really don't know where to start, it would be a good idea to follow that diet plan as you read an learn more about the diet.
Your antenna will start to know what foods have carbs and you can start making meals without following a plan.
Thank you sssoo much for your advice I’ll look into it xx and get back to you xxxx. Rosie
For the record, I haven't followed their plans and but some people have done well on them.
If you are a brit, carbdodging.com also has a ton of recipes that you might like better. But come over to healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet and you will get lots of advice from everyone on a similar journey.
Hi, Obeselady , welcome.
Is this just for obesity?
Keto is great for acute diabetes, epilepsy, cancer etc. - but I would not advocate it just for obesity.
How low carbohydrate does your diet have to be? See:

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Newbies IF FAQ:

The Fasting and Furious Forum, here on Health Unlocked:

Do we have to countermand every doctor's advice? I understand why we disagree when a doctor suggests low fat, but when they recommend a LCHF diet, can't we just trust they know what their patient needs better than we do? Not every doctor is wrong.
Have a look on Facebook if you're on it, there are loads of groups where people aware recipes etc
Hi Rosie,
You might also check out your local library? They might have some library books with Keto recipes.
Cheers,
Sarah
