Has anybody on here tried Keto? How have you got on? I fancy it but the whole “fat” eating after being a dieter most of my life and avoiding fat scares me.
Keto diet: Has anybody on here tried... - Weight Loss Support
Keto diet
Good morning, Wahlass, and welcome to the forum
Many members, myself included, follow a reduced carbohydrate and increased healthy fats approach, and it's a revelation and a joy I don't think many sustain a keto approach as that isn't generally necessary once you've reset your body to stop demanding carbs, and you've regained a proper sense of being hungry and full.
There's a LCHF forum you'll find helpful healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet

Hi Wahlass and welcome.
Different people here are following different forms of weight loss and management but there are many people here following lchf, including myself.
Some have followed the induction process and others like myself have eased themselves into a position where we limit our carbs. I've lost about 7kg to date by eating all my favourite things like cheese, eggs, steaks, bacon, cream etc... I've cut out most carbs and the biggest thing for me is that I no longer get the uncontrollable cravings I had for eating yet more carbs.

Getting past that psychological roadblock about fat is one of the primary reasons people come to LCHF (low-carb high-fat) as the last resort. Some people try it and get on well with it, but "crash out" because they can't cope with the guilt. This is a great pity, because it works; and it works because it's inherently healthy.
All I can suggest is that you give it a try and see how you get on. In most cases, when people start feeling and seeing the results, they just "get it" - they understand at a subconscious level that dietary fat is good and healthy and necessary. It all just drops into place. Hopefully this will happen for you!
Do join the LCHF group, where you'll get accurate information about how it works and what you should be eating (or avoiding). Unfortunately there is an enormous amount of misinformation put around about LCHF - any Google search on the subject is likely to throw up 50% nonsense. Because of this, many people start on what they believe is a LCHF diet, but in reality is just the media caricature of it. Suffice to say that LCHF is not all about steak and bacon: in fact you should find that whole new vistas of culinary enjoyment open up to you, and as a side effect you'll look and feel better than you did when you were "dieting".
"Keto", incidentally, is just the very-low-carb phase of LCHF. Although some people like to stay in this phase for extended periods, the vast majority of adherents switch out of it within a couple of weeks. I'm maintaining on roughly 50-100g net carbs/day, which is well above the "keto" zone.
Thanks everyone
