Hello. Everyone is friendly here have you love at the nhs 12 week plan.
Great stuff don't try to hard try not make your day to day life any different ps if you could include a good 20 min walk each day will help
Welcome to the group No need to start joining expensive gyms etc. like dawes09 has suggested, a 20 minute walk will be a good start and simple exercises at home if you are restricted in leaving the house for long periods? This is a good group with plenty of support, read the weekly action plans, especially the couch to 5k plan in week 2 action plan, write down everything that you eat along with the calories and keep to the recommended calorie intake and I am sure you will see the benefits, good luck!
I echo the 20 minute walk suggestion.
I do it, and I've dropped well over a stone in under 2 months.
'My Fitness Pal' is a great app for logging weight, exercise and calorie counting.
The 'Monday weigh in' on here is also good, the support & encouragement is ace!
Good luck
Hi Liz, I too am a carer and don,t have a lot of time. I am hoping to loose about 3 stone I have been going to Weight Watchers, but have had disappointing results. It is hard to get the
momentum going, as it is hard while looking after somebody. Jackie
Hi Liz,
It is worth planning your meals. With your limited time, you must be doing a lot of planning anyway, so it's tweaking it to make sure it works for you. Revisit the treats you keep in the house. Often those who put others first stock up on treats for the others and then eat the treats themselves. Try to get the others in the house to have treats that you really don't like. It does make them more resist able.
Exercise is another issue. When I've been stuck inside and feeling very lazy or tired, one of the things I do is use the TV adverts to take something upstairs. EG I used to take the washing up in one trip. Now I take it up in smaller amounts so getting up the stairs more often. I have also stopped doing things like washing up as efficiently as possible. I do it with the max of walking involved. My next plan is to have some upbeat music available and do a little 5mins of disco madness. I'm saving a Rolling Stone concert for the scrubbing of the sitting room floor!
Good Luck with your 2016 new start. Hope your scales are soon going in the right direction,
Venus

You can do this Liz and we can help
Walking or cycling, to and from work, shops, using stairs where possible rather than a lift are a gentle place to start without adding more stress on an already busy schedule. Making time for you though is important, if you are going to be able to continue caring for someone else. Any exercise is easier though if you can shed even a few pounds before you start and as you go through a sensible change in your diet. Good luck. X
