late too..

I am late too, but I live in a different time zone! anyway, I went to a friend's house for dinner, burgers which are my downfall, but I only ate one and no chips! I feel pretty good about this even tho I did not eat much as far as veggies go, but I am trying portion control for me first. portion control is huge (pardon the pun) for me as I am used to filling my plate to the rim and going back for seconds. now I wait about 5 or 10 minutes and if I am still hungry I will eat more veggies but most of the time I find a smaller plate size and less food leaves me just as satisfied as before just not miserably full. loving my new eating!

This seems very early to us, Katy! :)

Well done for sticking to the plan! Why not log your plans for tomorrow, on our Daily Diary, it won't matter that you're a day ahead? :)

Keep up the great work!! :)

thank you so much for the encouragement moreless! I will. I plan to make a healthy breakfast of oatmeal and peanut butter as suggested by another member with a large salad with all kinds of veggies for lunch and for dinner maybe a chop with broccoli no butter? anyway, I plan to do some major housework as exercise ( I still cannot walk terribly well) and stick in a healthy snack of some lovely carrot sticks I have already cut up if I want a snack. I have not really wanted snacks lately as I feel so good at starting this over again! I love my portion control start and will add some fruit and more exercise next week.

That all sounds delicious and I'm sure our regular diarists will love to share menus with you :)

Being in control really makes us feel good and motivates us to keep going. Long may it last!! :)

Onwards and downwards!! :)

Well done on the portion control. Good on you for taking one step at a time. Sometimes it is easier that way than trying to do everything at once then crashing into a blubbering heap :)

One burger is part of a proportioned meal so really well done Katy. Food should be enjoyed.

When I started, I spent the first 5 or 6 months only eating off side plates. It was a good physical and psychological barrier to over eating. You can still overeat from one (which goes to show how much a larger plate can hold) but at least it's a start.

I looked different compared to everyone else eating around me but I wanted to look after myself first and everyone else still has their same habits *said with smug grin*

That's a good ploy about the waiting. Other ideas on that same theme, is to split your meal in two and have the 2nd one a bit later and if you're having a small dessert, then employing the same kind of time gap.

Sounds like you're doing great.

brilliant idea about the splitting of dinner. I like it as well as the smaller plate idea. I have heard about smaller plates and use it... it is working for me. it is all in my mind anyway, I am not that hungry usually and I allow myself to go back later if I am really hungry. sometimes it is just difficult to decide if I am really hungry or just unsatisfied with something else. any ideas ya'll?

Someone else told me about splitting your main meal, which seemed such a simple but great idea.

I think that if you're keeping to the range of cals, that the NHS BMI calculator stipulates, then you're probably meeting your body's daily needs.

Off the top of my head, try using fats such as cream to help feel sated for longer, bulking out on veg, drinking lots of water.

I just laughed at the portion control thing being huge! So funny. Well done 're chips. It's a battle, us against the bad foods that surround us. This place is wonderful as it's helping me so much as are you. I was in Texas last year. Austin. What a place! Wow

yes Austin is quite a place! I live in west texas, Odessa/midland area. you know everything is bigger in texas including the portions! I don't eat out anymore because of that and other things but I found myself filling up a large plate. I changed my plate size to a smaller plate and amazed at how that works. I think it is a mental thing lol.
