Looking for advice on the best magnesium to take. I started taking magnesium before all my thyroid issues were diagnosed as I would often get twitchy muscles. My muscles would twitch so hard, you could see it. I recorded it once when it effected my tummy and showed my GP as it was quite spectacular. She sent me for scans and blood tests as it looked like I had a baby kicking in there. No baby. Nothing unusual. No gut issues. Goodbye. We're not interested. Get on with it.After a bit of research I started on 300mg of pure elemental magnesium glycinate in the evening which helped tremendously. (iperk) Then fast forward several years, Graves disease, Agranylucytosis, Rai, Thyroxine, struggling to feel well etc etc, I feel the magnesium doesn't quite hit the spot any more. Which has lead me to posting on here.. Any suggestions?

Magnesium help
I take lamberts magnesium supplements by day (1230mg in total) recommended by thyroid Dr.
I did buy pure encapsulations magnesium citrate (300mg) for night time to see if it helped with going to sleep. However I switched to a cheaper brand for the magnesium citrate.
I haven’t noticed any direct improvements from taking magnesium but I take it as part of the supplement cocktail necessary for healthy thyroid support.

I've found that there are several minerals and one vitamin that cause me to get cramp or benign fasciculations if I don't take them for a while. In my case the muscles usually affected are my calf, my eyelids, and very occasionally, my hands. Youtube has quite a few videos of people having fasciculations in various muscles that they've recorded.
If I get either cramp or fasciculations I do the following...
I take the following minerals/vitamins in the order I've written them. I always keep them in stock at home.
Magnesium
Iron
Potassium
Vitamin D
Sodium
I'll take magnesium citrate powder, a quarter level teaspoon in ribena (because I always find magnesium of any kind tastes vile), wait five minutes, and if it helps I stop there.
If I still have a problem I'll take an iron tablet (ferrous fumarate210mg), wait five minutes, and if it helps I stop there.
Next I'll try either potassium bicarbonate powder (quarter level teaspoon in ribena) or a potassium gluconate tablet.
Then I'll take a vitamin D3 tablet.
Then finally I'll try a quarter level teaspoon of salt to get some sodium.
I've found that a five minute wait between each of these, and stopping if the problem goes away, usually works for me.
