Anti thyroglobulin Antibody High

I'd a mole removed from my right shoulder blade last November that was initially feared to be cancerous, but thankfully wasn't so. Since then I have an annoying pain in my right upper abdomen. Have had an endoscopy( am awaiting report but consultant didn't seem overly concerned) had a cystoscopy which was clear as I have an enlarged prostate but normal psa levels. I got bloods done privately which show I have elevated anti thyroglobulin antibody's.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) 1.62 mIU/l 0.35 - 5.5 Optimal Free Thyroxine (FT4) 20 pmol/l 11.9 - 21.6 Optimal Free Tri-iodothyronine (FT3) 5.63 pmol/l 3.1 - 6.8 Optimal Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibody (Anti-Tg) 218 IU/ml ≤115.0 Optimal >115.0 High Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody (Anti-TPO) 21.3 kU/l ≤34.0

I also have high cholesterol

Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) 51 U/l <40 Normal 40 - 200 Moderately raised >200 High Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) 47 U/l 30 - 120 Optimal Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) 26.6 U/l <40 Normal Gamma-Glutamyltransferase (GGT) 82.7 U/l <10.0 Low 10.0 - 71.0 Optimal >71.0 High Total Bilirubin 8.68 µmol/l <21.0 Optimal Albumin 45.1 g/l 35.0 - 50.0 Optimal Ferritin 211.38 µg/l

I suffer with anxiety, night sweats, trouble sleeping.

I've been taking painkillers for last 5 months.

Could my Thyroid be overactive?

Was thyroid test done early morning?

Ideally around 9am

Good Ft4 and Ft3 and TSH

Graph showing median TSH in healthy population is 1-1.5

web.archive.org/web/2004060...

Elevated TG antibodies can be indicative of thyroid disease……but many people have high levels and no apparent issues

Request GP do ultrasound scan of thyroid or get one privately £100

You might want to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels

What vitamin supplements are you taking, if any

Low vitamin levels more common as we get older

Can cause symptoms

Low B12 can cause night sweats

Yes test was done at 9.30am Vitamin D was :127.

B12 :925

I take B12 vitamin and vitamin D, magnesium and folic acid.

Rather than taking separate B12 and folic acid you may find it more beneficial to take a good quality daily B complex

your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help maintain B12 levels

Difference between folate and folic acid

healthline.com/nutrition/fo...

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose

Post discussing different B complex

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)

Thank you. Will go through what you have posted. My head is all over the place with not being able to get a definitive answer. I think my GP is fed up of me at this stage..

thyroid issues is a very complex matter. Both sides of my family including myself suffer from either Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s, and hypothyroidism. This will affect every inch of your body. It causes auto immune diseases and can make you feel like you’re dying. Anyway have you had your liver enzymes checked. You could have a fatty liver whether you drink or don’t. Certain medication can cause right side pain. Are you on any meds? I’m not a doctor but been to many. I know certain meds you take this could be a side effect and the doctors won’t tell you this. One because they probably don’t know. Your liver is trying to get rid of this toxic in your body with the help of your gallbladder . Could be gallbladder. I had right side pain started back in 2010 and they jerked out my gallbladder and it wasn’t even the problem. Wish I had never done that. Your gallbladder and liver work together but that being said some people need it done but it’s really just there diet, eating fried foods etc. keep searching for answers. I wish I could help you. God bless

Thanks again to all for responding

Yes, I've had liver function test done. Ggt is elevated but they say that is probably from painkillers i have been takingWill post screen shot of results. I've had 2 abdominal ultra sound scans. One said I had fatty liver but nothing major, other one said my liver was ok.. I would have done a lot of road cycling so my fitness levels would have been ok prior to all this starting I've lost some weight about 6lbs. I notice my fingernails, some have vertical ridges and couple have cracks. My anxiety is bad, am taking seroquel 50mg . Am taking tamulosin daily for enlarged prostate. Haven't taken any painkillers in the last week so to give my liver a chance of recovery.

Attended GP. Asked him about elevated anti thyroglobulin antibody's in blood test. He dismissed it, saying lots of people have them. I also discovered i have 4 siblings with underactive thyroid .
