Would like some suggestions for a B complex product with low dose B12 and folate please

Homocysteine Nutrients

seekinghealth.com/products/...

I really like the sound of this product but I’m concerned about the B vitamins that are missing, namely B3 and B1. It also doesn’t have inositol, choline or biotin, although I don’t know how important they are. Would like to find a product that comprises of all the above to supplement what’s absent from the Homocysteine product but with low doses of what’s in the list below. Don’t want to overdo it

I hear some of you wondering why this product. Well, I like the idea of the trimethyglycine and the fact that the B6 is pyridoxal 5 phosphate. Also my husband is taking a high dose of B12 and likes the adeno/methyl combination and the high dose folate

You’re going to love the info in this post:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I just recently did a deep dive and chose a B regimen based on the incredible info and experiences from the collective wisdom of our brilliant forum-mates!

Enjoy!

I've just started taking one of the Vitabright but it still has higher levels of B12 than you are looking for but has the other bits 🙃

Thank you Tigger but I can’t see that brand on the spreadsheet

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

I don't think it ever got added as Regenallotment was running out of space, it's comparable to Igennus but with the few extra B's that aren't B's! 😵‍💫

Found it! What a shame it’s got so many excipients though. I try to avoid them where possible

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

Pretty standard excipients, nothing terrible

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

No but when you consider all the supplements we have to take to maintain core nutrients, if I wasn’t careful about what I take then over the course of a week that’d be a hell of a lot

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

I agree but some are literally wood pulp and plant cellulose

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

I can’t recall where but I seem to remember reading that plant cellulose can be antagonistic to the thyroid and as for wood pulp… just don’t fancy eating it

I like the Seeking Health brand and have been taking their Homocystex Plus for around 5 months.

I'm due a vitamin blood test shortly but to ensure I am at least getting some of the rest of the B vitamins that are missing from the Homocystex Plus I switch to Thorne Basic B for a couple of days a week.

Any thoughts on the claim it lowers homocysteine?

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toNoelnoel

I don’t have raised homocysteine but I have an inkling I may have a B12 deficiency or even PA, in which case if I ever do extensive testing for PA the homocysteine test will be negative. Not an immediate concern because I like the alleged benefits for the liver. My enzymes keep rising so I’m looking for something that may lower them and the morning discomfort I have in the liver region. Various investigations show a normal liver in every way but raised enzymes and discomfort don’t occur for no reason

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

I had raised liver enzymes and found I'm naturally low in glutathione so added some in and all back in range 😅

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

Really? Were your levels very high and do you have liver discomfort/pain

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

Last July's results... 😕no pain but still creeping up from previous results, ALT had doubled from previous year!

6 months after adding L-Glutathione

Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

That’s impressive. Are you sure it was the L glutathione that helped? What’s the brand

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

I was surprised and relieved!

uk.iherb.com/pr/california-...

This was the only change aimed at liver detox, I'd added TUDCA mainly to aid bile production, zinc and DHEA as my levels were low 🤷‍♀️

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

Right, so tudca could also have helped because it’s used to aid liver health. Did you start tudca and glutathione at the same time

Thank you for the link

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

So the TUDCA added first in August and made a noticeable difference... healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

L-Glutathione added a month later

Wouldn't be keen to give either of them up as I've improved so much this year

Read the link. Really interesting. I have no idea about oxalates but I recognise what you say about stools. Keen to get started on both but I’ll start one thing at a time

So grateful for the info you provided. Thank you

Hope they work for you too 🤗

My gut is far more resilient these days...

My trouble is that I pinpoint an issue and research it intensely, once satisfied I decide on my route and then promptly forget most of the information I have gathered 🙃 but ticking off the issues one at a time seems to work for me 😅 It's so handy posting my journey on here as I can go back and remind myself

It’s always a good idea to research things to death but at the moment I haven’t the capacity to take in any more info

It’s clear my liver/gall bladder need help and looking into L glutathione and tudca seems relatively simple. The hardest task will probably be choosing the brand. Everyone seems to be selling it!

When I get beyond reading I tend to let Dr Eric Berg talk to me as he seems to have a little tutorial on most things

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

Tigger, I opted for the tudca and I’m honestly amazed. Three days after starting it, for the first time in years (apart from a week’s respite a few months ago) I have woken the last three mornings with absolutely no pain in the liver region. I’m incredulous that not only has it worked but in the shortest time. I’m not counting my chickens yet - but I will if I’m still pain-free in another week’s time - but I’m hopeful. I’ll leave it a few months before testing liver enzymes

So, a really big thank you for talking to me and recommending it

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toNoelnoel

I'm really pleased to hear it has helped you too 🤗 always a little cautious to suggest things, but it does seem to do the trick doesn't it 😁

I couldn't believe the difference it made so I think it's a keeper

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toTiggerMe

I’m utterly incredulous at the speed. And it wasn’t as though it was a gradual receding of the pain, it was just gone without warning. I wish I had known about this 15 years ago because I’m sure damage has been inflicted in that time

Thank you so much

I do have MTHFR genes and am in a few groups of such people. I think the claims are accurate but if the problem is PA then B12 injections would be required to lower homocysteine.
