I am wondering if I could please have some advice. I am due to purchase some more Vitamin D3 soon as I am running low now. I am wondering if someone could recommend a good brand or a few brands that are good quality but not too expensive please. At the moment I have swansons is this one ok ? I have hypothyroidism and also PA.
Also would people advise that a B complex is also necessary as I'm not sure if I really need this.
I'm still not feeling too great and get a lot of back pain.
Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have Hashi's? If so you need an oral spray for best absorption as it bypasses the stomach - look at BetterYou brand, highly recommended here.
If no Hashi's then Doctor's Best and Now Foods softgels are excellent. Small softgel, contains only 2 ingredients (D3 plus extra virgin olive oil). I have used both these brands and found them to be excellent.
Don't forget D3's important cofactors that are necessary - Vit K2-MK7 and Magnesium.
D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems.
D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds.
Magnesium helps D3 to work and comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds
Thank you SeasideSusie for all your information and help. Yes I have hashi's. I will look into the d3 you have suggested. I have followed advice from you before so have the k2mk7 but when I need more I will have a look at those brands you suggested.
I think a b complex probably is a good idea. I am self injecting B12 so no need for testing really. I havn't had any tests in a while so no idea what my folate level is like at the moment.
Ah, as you're using B12 then to balance all the B vitamins we need a B Complex. You can get liquid versions, drops, etc which might be better for you as you have Hashi's, but make sure it has methylcobalamin not cyanocobalamin and methylfolate not folic acid. Stay Way from B100 and B50 types, they're not particularly well balanced.
I thought I replied earlier but not sure what happened. Thank you for your reply. I will have a look at the b complex you have suggested. I havn't had vitamin d checked for a while but I had planned to just take it anyway as I don't want it to go low again. I will look for the spray.
The GP was not being too helpful she eventually agreed to up the Levo to 75/50 but I still didn't find that too helpful. I was thinking of sourcing my own NDT to see if that might work better.
I'm trying very hard with gluten free but still find breakfast a bit hard and sometimes still have toast or cereal. I've cut down a lot but not completely.
" I havn't had vitamin d checked for a while but I had planned to just take it anyway as I don't want it to go low again"
Please retest. You want to make sure you are taking enough to put you into the recommended range of 100-150nmol (according to the Vit D Council) but not so much that would put you in the toxicity category.
M&s do very good gluten free bread. Not cheap but makes good toast
Lots of GF cereal available or certified gluten free oats for porridge or make your own muesli using this and add seeeds, nuts and dried fruit of your own choice
Gluten free pancakes are lovely for breakfast with maple syrup, blueberries & streaky bacon. I make a batch & keep in the fridge. So easy & very very tasty 😋. Smoked salmon & soft poached egg on toast is AMAZING....I'm feeling hungry thinking about it! Banana on toast is another tasty option.
Thanks Seaside Susie. I'll arrange to get my Vitamin D tested. Thank you so much Slow Dragon and Paula 101 for those brillant breakfast ideas. I'll put some of them into practice. I do like museli so will start to make my own. Would you have a recipe for the gluten free pancakes as those sound like a good option too. Thank you so much for helping.
