Temp going up and down all day

Hi folks,

I recently received the results of my 2.6cm nodule and it was thankfully benign. Such a relief. tey did say I had a few nodules and that they were on both sides.

I have been following all your advise and tips and immediately started vit d, b21, b complex, iron, and a probiotic. I also take 1000mg ACV tablets which are the business. Betaine was making acid reflux too bad ( I have a hernia) so I stopped it but might try it again for vitamin absorption.

I am feeling a million times better on the supplements but have noticed I am constantly going hot and cold day and night , this has only started about 2 weeks ago. What could be causing this?

I also have joint pain, back knees hips, elbows. Is there a reason I would have this? It was extremely bad 6 weeks ago when I found the lump on my neck. Lastly at the time I found the lump, one side of my face was really puffy and filled with fluid. My eye was constantly streaming and postnasal drip. This has stopped now but the postnasal drip hasn't .

Sorry sounds like a moanbag post but I guess I'm just want to feel better and doctors endos don't want to hear symptoms at all.

These were my bloods done a month ago.

Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase Ab's 1.4 IU/mL range 0 - 8.9

WBC 5.9 x10^9/L Range 4.4 - 11.3

Vitamin B12

Your vitamin B12 is very low indeed.

Have you been tested for Pernicious Anaemia? If not I suggest discussing the possibility ASAP with the HealthUnlocked Pernicious Anaemia forum which you can find and join here :

healthunlocked.com/pasoc

It is much more difficult to get a diagnosis of PA once you have started treatment with supplements or injections of B12. It would be worth finding out if B12 ampoules for injection are available over-the-counter where you live.

...

Have you been given or offered B12 injections already?

If yes, what did the injections contain and at what dose? And how many injections have you had?

If you've been supplementing with tablets, what are they made of, what dose are they, and how often do you take them.

There are four different forms of B12 supplement and different countries prescribe different forms. This is also true of injections. For example, I think the UK uses hydroxocobalamin injections for Pernicious Anaemia, and the USA uses cyanocobalamin.

For info on the different forms :

perniciousanemia.org/b12/fo...

And for info on optimal levels :

perniciousanemia.org/b12/le...

perniciousanemia.org/b12/le...

Judging by the UK treatment of B12 deficiency with B12 supplements in tablet form, they tend to under-dose to an amazing degree. They prescribe 50 - 150mcg B12 tablets. I treat my own B12 levels (I don't have PA, and I do absorb B12 from tablets) with supplements I can buy online because the dosages available are much higher than those supplied by the NHS, and the NHS wouldn't treat me anyway. I just feel best with my B12 levels at top of range, and I supplement to keep them there. Since B12 isn't toxic at high levels I don't burden my doctor by mentioning it. :)

Folate

We suggest that optimal levels for folate are in the upper half of the reference range. So, with your reference range, optimal would be somewhere between 11.5 and 20 ng/mL.

When aiming to improve folate, avoid folic acid, and take methylfolate or metafolin instead. The reasons why are given in these links :

takecareof.com/articles/ben...

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

...

When there is a need to improve both B12 and folate it is essential to improve B12 first, before supplementing folate. This would mean either getting a B12 injection, or taking B12 tablets for a week or two before adding in folate supplements, and just hope that you absorb it. There are recent arguments that this isn't essential, but it isn't harmful to do it this way, so sticking to it won't hurt. This "B12 before folate" idea has been around for quite a long time, and it would actually be unethical to test what happens if it were to be abandoned now.

Hi humanbean

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful indeed.

I started taking b12 better for you spray 1200ug. I'm on it a month now. I am also taking a b complex. Once the spray is finished I will buy the Thorne complex as I was told here it has a higher amount of b12 in it than the source of life brand in using at the minute.

I started active iron tablets 25mgs at the same time, now I'm into iron spray as I've finished box of active iron. I didn't realise you shld have waited to start iron.

I do feel much more energised but it's the constant temp changing in my body day and night. It's not like hot flush, I don't get these anymore it's just like temp rises in my body and then goes again.. All over my body not just my head.

Is it too late to get tested for PA? My doc didn't say anything about any vits.. Just vit d.

What wld I have to do.. Another blood test?

Thanks humanbean

I forgot to say in my previous reply that poor temperature regulation is extremely common in thyroid disease. If you get your nutrients and thyroid hormone levels to a good place for you then your temperature problems might reduce. But there is no guarantee that you will ever return to how you were before your thyroid disease began showing effects.

My thyroid hormones and nutrients are at a fairly good place for me, but my cortisol is still quite high. Having said all that I still need a hot water bottle in bed for about 9 or 10 months a year, and sometimes I will sit with one on my lap if I'm really struggling. I have invested in better clothes for cold weather over the last year or two since gas and electric prices have shot up so much. I've even bought my first ever thermal vests. 😁

But despite all that I am still better off than I was before I started looking after myself as much as I do now.

Oh that's interesting.. I didn't know that temp was related to thyroid. Gosh you poor thing being frozen half the time. I gas prices are cruel.. Roll on summer.

They told me my thyroid function was perfect. My endo did. I mean I really don't know what to think. This is all new to me. I'm wading my way through mountains of informative trying to get answers and feel better... I guess like everyone on here. I said to my husband last night, wldnt it be great if they're was a clinic just for thyroids 😂.. But there isn't in Ireland anyway.

Might stop the better 4 u spray.. I started it 2 days ago and have had migrane for the 2 days.. Must be that spray.

Can I ask you what b12 you buy and where from thanks so much for your time x

I don't have many problems tolerating supplements any more. About 10 - 12 years ago this wasn't true and I struggled a lot. But since I've improved so many nutrients and thyroid hormone levels I tolerate most things really quite well now, with few exceptions. So I don't go for the really expensive options that I used to and I still do okay.

I currently use Igennus Super B Complex - note the full dose is two tablets per day, but once you start to feel better you might be able to reduce to one a day.

Also these additional B12 and folate supplements - note the different dosages and quantities of tablets :

Either

amazon.co.uk/Methyl-Tablets...

Or

amazon.co.uk/Strength-Methy...

When I'm happy with my levels of B12 I cut down on the number of times a week I take them. Ditto with the folate.

...

For folate - notice the different quantities of pills in each packet :

amazon.co.uk/L-5-MTHF-1000m...

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08...
