Very stupid question alert,,,,,

Having a "🤦‍♀️ facepalm" type of day.

Just trying to get things straight in my disorganised brain. Never easy.

so been looking back over blood results from My GP, . Wish I could remember how to find previous posts it might help stop me asking dim questions, could anyone clarify /explain something. Last May, I stamped my feet and got various blood tests done by GP, IFAB, B12, Folate , FBC, Iron studies, bone profile, serum ferritin, PTH.

Looking back I am wondering if I missed something, as usual no reference ranges, vit D had improved to 47nmol/L , huge supplementing. B12 2000. ng/L SI, folate upto 12.6ug/L from 2.7. serum inorganic phosphate 1.23 mmol/L, ref ? 2.5 - 4.5 mg/dl, Plasma parathyroid hormone 5.5pmol/L ref ? 14-65pg/ml , wondering if it could be a Parathyroid problem , my TSH at same time 5.3mu/L Free T4 19.8 pmol/L.

Grasping at straws here , I want to try and get some answers, as we all know autoimmune disorders tend to travel in gangs, and tend to run in families. I have children , I don't want them to have the fight I am having. My mad head is wandering again. I want to try if possible to get some official diagnosis, multiple even, to try and get better treatment. I am managing my health myself at moment but there may come a time when officialdom try's to interfere . Plus my children are all neurodivergent like myself and there is a tendency to be ignored and fobbed off by DR's. I am not rich so I am looking to try and get genetic testing done to try and have proof of issues, ?PA, other autoimmune conditions, absorption problems .

Going to stop now I am boring myself, any thoughts, ideas , suggestions gratefully received

So, how do you get your results? Word of mouth? If you ask the receptionist for a print-out of your results, you would automatically get the ranges.

To get to your past posts, just click on your name at the top of your post. Or that photo of the white fluffy dog. And that will take you straight to your profile, and your past posts and responses are all there. :)

Hi thanks for response. I have My GP app on phone supposed to be able to access results etc on it but it is a bit rubbish, numbers but no ranges. I have in past gone and asked for print outs you would think I was asking for the crown jewels. (white fluffy dog is Lunar, Hungarian Puli) when she looked clean.

Don't take any notice of that victim act on the part of the receptionists, insist on your rights. You are legally entitled to a print-out, whatever she thinks. Just stand there and make it clear you're not leaving without it.

Lunar is beautiful! I love dogs. :)

Lunar is a scruffy smelly doggy now, their coat once established is easier to keep under control but it all has to be hand split/groomed and my hands just can't function like that anymore. She qualified for Crufts a few times, she is getting on a bit now like me, she'll be 11 in November.

My dog died in March, he was 16. And I won't be getting another because I'm more than getting on, I'm almost there! 78 last March. I can only just about look after myself, I can't take on another dog. Sad, but that's life, I guess. Make the most of her while she's still there. :)

They break your heart when the cross the bridge, not sure I'll ever get another. Gave up her daughter 2 years ago she deserved better than I could give. Lives on a farm in Devon now with lots of dogs, goats, geese and chicken's having a ball, still makes me sad.

Yes, that's another reason I don't want to get another. Enough heart-break in my life. And I have had a lot of dogs, so, mustn't be greedy, must we. :) Hard to live without one, now, though.

maybe you could at some point do a bit of fostering or support a local doggy rescue,

I'm afraid there aren't any doggy rescue places around here, it would be at least 3/4 hour drive to find one. And I'm not very good at driving any more. But, I might be having a couple of rescue cats, they're easier to look after - they don't need walkies! :)

I never thought I liked cats, never had one growing up . Now have a ginger Tom who is a proper cuddlebum, and a slinky little black cat (rescue) looks very oriental, she eventually grew into her large ears and really long tail

She sounds gorgeous! :)

Adding on to GreyGoose’s advice: the first time the receptionist gave me a print out there were no ranges. I played thick and asked about them, she then reprinted the correct one with the ranges, so check and ask.

And today I learned that puli is not spelt pooli and they can be white as well as black! You should have seen the colour of my (should be) white westie after a long wet walk last week!

Love the dog chatter, we are definitely due another, last soppy retriever left us about 4 years ago, we still miss her.

Am I right in spotting that parathyroid level has a range and you are below it?

Definitely worth querying that with GP for a follow up.

Polo22 profile image
Polo22 in reply to Regenallotment

I think that is the range, will have to torment surgery for printouts the result number is off My GP app on phone

Polo22 profile image
Polo22 in reply to Regenallotment

looking on the app there are some mistakes in my records , it says 1995 lobectomy, it was complete thyroidectomy, it says secondary hypothyroidism, the spell tendonitis as tendinitis, says I had glandular fever in december 1994, it was August 1984, waste of time and these people are supposed to know what they are doing

"NHS App" gives me access to blood test ranges when "My GP" app didn't. Not quite as user friendly, but worth it to get the full info you need.

will try that later Thank You

Did try, apparently my Surgery don't allow that information to be shared or it has not signed up for that or something along those lines
