Currently on 125mcg Levothyroxine. I still have typical hypo symptoms, shiver below 23C, brittle nails, dry skin, wayward metabolism. I have an endo appointment (NHS) in August, though I don't expect much from it as it's the same guy who I last was meant to see who wrote me before I'd even seen him that if I was seeking T3 to forget it! I didn't go. I think I don't convert T4 too well.
Serum total 25-OH vit D level - (VALB) - Abnormal - routine GP telephone appointment 168 nmol/L
<25 nmol/L: Vitamin D deficiency
25-50 nmol/L: Vitamin D insufficiency
>50 nmol/L: Vitamin D sufficiency
Serum ferritin - (Mike Jones) - Normal result 139 ug/l 22.00 - 275.00ug/l
Did you do the test as per the protocol recommended here? When was your last dose of levo before the test?
Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process)? Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.
Free T3 (fT3) 4.4 pmol/L (2.9 - 4.9) 75.0%
According to that test, with your FT4 above range you are converting reasonably well.
What vitamins are you taking?
Your folate is almost deficient and likely you would benefit from a good methyl/active B complex that contains folate & also B12 such as this one. amazon.co.uk/Liposomal-Soft...
So your vitamins not being optimal yet may mean you can't use the levo well.
Have you made any dietary changes such as gluten free and possibly also dairy free?
Do you always get the same brand of levo at each prescription?
