HC cream effect wears off pretty quickly 🤨

This is a carry on from last weeks... healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

So I stopped the daily 1g of hydrocortisone cream which I had used for a week on Wednesday morning and within 2 days have slumped back to pre cream lethargic state! This in readiness for a blood test on Wednesday... It was fun while it lasted, quite a remarkable difference🤸‍♀️

So once the test is done should I add the cream back in before adding a little more T3 or just the T3 which ought to bring my cortisol level up?

This is just NHS Endo testing so TSH, fT3/4 and blood cortisol, I did tack on ferritin, folate, vit d, b12 but whether I'll even get to see those results.... Endo's don't seem to put their results on your records?

Current levels are T3 65% T4 70% and my sweet spot is with T3 at 90%

Any thoughts?

Hey Eeyore, glad the cream is helping… does suggest adrenals are a little unhappy maybe? I think you should be off all adrenal support (cream, glandulars, steroids) for minimum 2 weeks before a test as per my Endo’s advice & STTM recommendation. But I do know that HC is metabolised within 4-6 hrs so unsure why there would need to be this gap 🤔 presumably it is the half-life?

Hi, I'm really pleased with the cream results, I shall certainly adding it to the 'this works list'... I'm thinking the blood cortisol test is just for the records and not much good will come of it as I'm not in crisis... so didn't want to mess with my adrenal supplements too much as that will just set me back again, for no real gain. I'd rather find what works for me than rely on the hit and miss they offer. They only sprung the cortisol test on me last week so... meh 😬

Makes me laugh that they give no guidance before taking the test, should it be fasting or after eating? They don't ask about any other factors?

If I can just get them to supply the T3 & 4 it'll be a win 🙃

Did you trial the cream first before the tablets?

in reply toTiggerMe

yea I did, but I do have significant adrenal insufficiency so the cream would never be much support for me and I think absorption varies between people x

You didn't notice any real change with the cream? I'm surprise how flaky I feel again without it, but then I know I don't have enough T3 yet to get me through the day

I'm just looking back at how my kidney function improved along with sodium (15% up to 70%) and potassium levels (33% - 45%) A1c (40 - 34) which picked up once I started on T3 which suggests I still have the ability to bounce back hopefully, so if I can be super kind to my adrenals....

I'm picking up lots of pointers from your posts and chats with others and the various books

Yes, annoyingly I found it a bit weak, but the HC tablets are providing really interesting results and I can very much tell I am taking them. I’ll post in my next update in a few days the ins and outs! Did you do an adrenal saliva panel? I forget x

Have you tried the pinch of cream of tartar and pinch of salt in orange juice cocktail trick? I can vouch for that as a quick fix. Sending adrenal boosting vibes to our ittle sleepy donkey 🌱🦋🌱

I've been doing that too...is it only a pinch!? I couldn't be bothered to look it up so I bought some lovely juice and add a quarter teaspoon of each!😋The tartar has a kick

I use a tiny scoop measure that says 1ml so close to quarter teaspoon 👍 yes it gives me a buzz. Hmmm here’s to a T3 raise and a HC approval x
